Zero gotten too. Hard to get pussy when you bring her home in your Viper and your home has more wheels than the car.

I went to school with a guy who ended up winning like $54 million in the Hoosier Lottery. He lived in a trailer park at the time. A couple of months later he was still in that same trailer, but with a fleet of Cadillacs and Hummers parked in front of it.

tailhappy what kind of mileage did you get in those interceptors? and they take 87 right? they can be had for pretty cheap and theyre sturdy cars. probably a good beater/dd choice.

Depends on the rear gear. With the 3:27's I was getting 22avg. Mostly highway driving. Yes, 87. Yes, and yes, so long as you don't mind the size, the mileage, possible rubber floors, funny smells, and holes from removed equipment. Also, back seats are kinda small.
Re: Went looking at SUVs today
i dont mind any of that. seeing people slow down when near me would be priceless.

Surprisingly, there are quite a few people at work who show up with new cars every year. Some are leased, some just buy based on their fancy. It's kind of surprising because it's not like everyone here is well paid.
I've come to the conclusion that 90% of the people out there that drive "nice" cars (we'll say 50k+), really can't afford them.
Exactly. Just because you can buy something, doesn't mean you can actually afford it --- upkeep, repairs, etc. We had a similar discussion with someone but about houses. Yeah, the bank can give you a generous loan for a house and you could maybe even make the payments but the first time the AC needed to be replaced or HOA dues go up, you're fucked.
I would rather have a nice cozy little house, a decent car and plenty of spending money. It's a nice balance for me.
At least until I'm making WAY more money.
This is why I won't buy an older Luxo cruiser. The car itself may be cheap, but the parts are expensive as fuck and sometimes difficult to replace.

Yeah that is a nice perk.
Re: Went looking at SUVs today
It gets annoying though, more or less on the interstate. You'll be traveling in the left lane doing 80 and the jackwad in front of you is doing 78, then he sees you and slows down to the speed limit (65). At the same time, there seems to be an endless line of Semi trucks in the right lane, so the jackwad in front of you can't merge to get out of your way.

While I could be considered a FIB, I drive 5-10 over no matter what state I'm in.

I go with the flow. Don't want to stand out, and be "that guy from out of state".
Hence if I'm doing 65 in a 55 here, and some jerkhole with IL plates comes flying up behind me, I don't move over. Fuck you, dude. You're in my state.

I'm not bored of my STI. Although I did park it for 6 months and drive a truck. So maybe that has something to do with it.

Why would ou daily drive an interceptor when you own a WRX?

haha yeah dude. What the fuck? The WRX is a fine DD. It's not like it's some treasured jewel that can only be brought out when the conditions are optimal, the traffic is light, and the planets have aligned. Drive it like it was meant to be driven.
Also, if it's too costly to keep running (91, insurance, etc. etc.) and you want to DD something more efficient, just trade it in on a decent, efficient car. A Mazda 3 or a Focus or something.

Well because I have interests in more than one type of car, plus you appreciate a car more if you don't drive it every day. Interceptors are solid, inexpensive cars. I imagine people on the road treat you with more respect if they think you might be a cop.

Then they flip you off, cut you off, and speed away when they realize that you aren't.

I don't know man. I wouldn't. If you're going to get a second car at least make it something completely different from the first one. Like a Jeep or a pickup. Something that will at least have some practical function that your WRX doesn't have, or that'll give you a completely different driving experience. An Interceptor would be just like your WRX, except slower and heavier with no better gas mileage and far worse handling.

For the record, buying one so you can pretend to be a policeman doesn't qualify as a completely different driving experience.

And if you buy one for that reason we're going to have to start calling you CamaroSS'01. Or something.

PS - Honor, stop being an idiot. Buy a Civic or 2.5i if you want a DD.

2.5i or a civic would be totally boring to me. You could have some fun with a Crown Vic. It might use more in gas but I think that would be offset by cheap retail prices and cost of ownership. I have yet to test drive any yet though.

Re: Went looking at SUVs today
How do you know you'd have any fun in a Crown Vic if you haven't driven one yet? My bet would be that a preowned Civic would be just as fun to drive (not very), and would definitely beat it in cost of ownership. Though I'm sure it'd be a little more expensive to buy.
