Sigh, that's what these things we have at work would sound like, if they had motors. :jay:

Rotaries are the most amazing sounding racing engines.

This one's pretty good, too.

It's a part of the Grand Am rules. I believe all cars have to have functioning turn signals. Also, they use factory cars, so there would just be a gaping hole there, those may not even work.

This is true.

Really? That's weird. what's the point of having functioning turn signals on a race car? I'd kinda rather they be speedholes. they could function as engine bay vents, like how they look like they're supposed to.
(I dunno, are those vents functional on the real cars? I doubt they are, but I'm not sure...)

Uh, there's not much factory under there. Shit, the body is all carbon fiber. Probably used stock stuff for molds, but that's about it.

Usually the molds are made from stock body parts. My buddy with the FD race car has the "vent" holes right behind the front wheels like the stock car; it will even hold the plastic decorative trim surround pieces that go in those "vents".

In the case of those Grand Am Rx-8s though. I think those cars are a completely stock body shell, their class requires them to be. Those doors open and close on them, if it were a tube chassis, no one would go to the lengths of having doors that open.

the parts can be carbon fiber, but they have to represent the stock body. They are not like dtm or other touring car classes where its just a single piece body over a space frame, it has to maintain is unibody shape, even if its using a tubular frame.

they can have functioning turn signals, but dont ussually, just headlights and tail lights.

Wait, those are in your showroom? That's cool.

Also, is the entire body carbon fiber? Or only certain parts?

Whole thing is CF. Demspey's car is gone. The took it away to put a motor in it. Don't know why the black one is still there. Maybe for me to jizzle on it some more.

It would be great if Mazda could get a rotary-powered 3 or even 2 into production for a similar premium as Honda and Toyota charge for their hybrid equivalents.

I had a thought one day, if they made a coupe (with a hatch) version of the Miata with the Rotary in it, it would be close to the original Rx-7.

Not quite on topic, but I was behind a Megane RS in traffic last night. Not sold on the front, but the back and sides are the best looking of any current hatch. It sounds good too.
