SBF and I raced with Jay last night. He kicked our asses.

Re: AF Forza 3 Racing League
I think I've done something wrong with buying parts for my cars. We all have the same PI or give or take 1 or two points and everyone walks away from me. Then I can never catch up.
I'm not happy.

Re: AF Forza 3 Racing League
Handling parts can take away from things a lot. You might feel comfortable driving a car with upgraded tire compounds, but it costs less in PI if you can get a similar feel with wider tires and anti-roll bars (the anti-roll bars will actually decrease your PI a touch because of the weight, but the improved handling is usually a good trade-off for the additional weight and can be made up for elsewhere), and you can put your PI savings into the engine or weight decrease. See if you can do without the roll cage, though on some cars it's necessary. Once you get the handling where you want it, try to take a handling mod off and see if you can tweak things out with suspension, tire pressures, or anti-roll tuning, then put that PI savings into another upgrade. Also, if the gear ratios for the sport transmission can be tweaked well enough, don't go for the fully adjustable race tranny. Don't bother with the clutch upgrades or the driveshaft upgrades until the very last thing you install to try and get that last couple of PI.
Re: AF Forza 3 Racing League
DAMMIT. I missed it cuz I was tired from being up the two nights prior real late NOT playing you guys. Jay, you and I must race.

Re: AF Forza 3 Racing League
Fuck your Evo. Fuck. Was catching you until I rolled my shit.
I still need to set up various cars for various tracks with various tunes. I don't know what the fuck I last used some of my cars for, but they were tuned or either high top speeds, or quick acceleration.

Re: AF Forza 3 Racing League
Oh and they need to nerf the AWD PI car problem somehow. We were all B500 but since you and I were in the WRX and Evo we were like a half mile ahead of SBF in his RX7.

Re: AF Forza 3 Racing League
I'll be on. Yeah AWD might be good for acceleration, but there's just no way in hell the cars should be that much faster, especially in the corners, than a RWD car driven by someone with the same skill.
I think I'll stick to all RWD tonight.

Re: AF Forza 3 Racing League
New DLC announced for June 8th:
2010 Lotus Evora Type 124
2010 Ford Fusion Sport
2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8
2010 Subaru Legacy B4 2.5GT
2010 Bertone Mantide
2010 Mazdaspeed 3
2010 Morgan Aero SuperSports
2010 Peugeot RCZ
2010 Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG
2010 BMW Motorsport X6 M
Interesting that the Ford division will have nearly their entire current American car lineup represented in the game now, except for the current American Focus (though the SVT Focus is close enough despite being a couple of facelifts old).

When you PM'd, I thought it was an invite and that you had a room going, maybe with Honor or something. But he was playing something else, you and I were the only AFers on Live playing F3, and everytime I checked my friends list, it said you were busy in a season race.

Honor, you need a headset ASAP or we're gonna keep making fun of you without you able to do anything about it.

Re: AF Forza 3 Racing League

Re: AF Forza 3 Racing League
My headseat is very screwy. I could hear what everyone was saying apart from Jay most of the time. But the mic was apparently not doing much.
Had a great time, even if it mostly consisted of running into SBF. I knew it was going to be tough when the very first race was a track I hadn't raced on (Motegi) in a class I decided the best bet was to use a car I hadn't driven before (Tom's MRS).
But it was great fun and you guys were good racers despite my all-over-the-trackness.

Oh yeah, the reason I left n a hurry was to go watch my football team at the pub...not because I was losing badly...

Yeah, I had trouble hearing you too...most everything you said came out garbled on my end.
I've got one of those Turtle Beach headsets that puts both the game audio and chat volume through the headset so I can play late at night without bothering anyone in the apartment building, and only need one headset rather than use a headset for game audio and a Live headset stuffed underneath it. There's a separate volume control thumbwheel for the chat audio, and it was working early on, but I guess somehow I bumped it and turned it all the way down and didn't notice. Since we were using the Live Party thing, it didn't alert me in-race when someone was talking...I just thought people had gotten quiet
Re: AF Forza 3 Racing League
which model turtle beach? wired or wireless? i was thinking of getting one but i wasnt sure which model is the best deal. online reviews are worthless, half the people hate em, and half love em. then there's another brand that makes them too, forget the name but all their stuff is orange in color. alot of people say they are better than TB but they tend to be more expensive and only come in wired models.

Mine's a wired X1. I would say it would probably be a good idea to get a wireless one if you can, as the wire leading from the console to the headset tends to twist itself up in weird ways. Plus if you take your XBox to other peoples' homes, it's a huge pain in the ass to bring it (I usually don't) because of all the hook ups involved, as you can see below:
But as far as the actual functionality of it, I love it. The sound quality is fantastic (better than any other stereo headphones I have) and not having to wear two headsets to play at night is a godsend. You can adjust game volume and chat volume individually so you can balance them out as well as you need to. I don't know about how good any of the other ones are, but I'm a big fan of mine.
