Microsoft's Turn 10 Studios, makers of Forza Motorsport 3, announced two new add-on car packs today. One will be chosen by the readers of the snarky and irreverent car blog Jalopnik. Hey, wait a second — that's us!

Three weeks ago, I talked about how Jalopnik plans to build the next generation of auto enthusiasts from video gamers and techies. Today, we proudly announce that we're taking the first step to pull car lovers out of the mud of mediocrity. Let's just call it a first-of-its-kind partnersynergasm: Jalopnik is teaming up with Microsoft's Turn 10 Studios, the developer of Forza Motorsport 3, to give the enthusiast community a chance to do something it's never done before — choose the cars that will show up in the video game.

To start, we've composed a list of 120 vehicles, a list that you, our readers, will winnow down to fifteen cars over the course of this week. Nine of those fifteen (the actual selection may vary, depending on availability of real-world car examples for Turn 10 to scan) will make it into a Jalopnik-branded download pack that will be released this summer. The tenth car was chosen by the Jalopnik staff, and we'll reveal it at the end of voting on Friday. Voting will occur in a series of posts scheduled to start today at 11 AM EST, and the list will be revealed as we go along.

That isn't the only XBox news 'round these parts: We're pleased as punch to announce that Forza's March downloadable car pack is so full of awesome, we're putting the Jalopnik seal of approval on it, too. More to come on that front over the next couple of weeks.

What kind of cars are there to vote on? Only some fucking awesome cars, like a first-gen Taurus SHO, a '68 Holden Monaro GTS, DeLorean DMC-12, '94 Impala SS, '71 AMC AMX, '87 Ford Sierra Cosworth, '77 Trans Am, '77 Mazda RX-3, GMC Typhoon, and a '66 Nova SS my fine honoured gentlemen.

For some reason, polls 1 and 3 are open, but poll 2 is closed. Which is a bummer because it also had a Porsche 928 GTS, a '73 Ford Falcon GT XB, a '72 AND '76 Gran Torino, an '84 RX-7, an '87 Monte Carlo SS, and a '68 Dodge Dart GTS.

Given the selection of cars, and the readership of Jalopnik, and even though only 9 of the cars will make it in, I don't see how this car pack won't be pure win. There's just too many awesome cars.

And I'd bet money that the 10th car will be an El Camino.

Mr. T is an upcoming video game for the Wii, PlayStation3, Xbox 360 and Windows PCs under development by ZootFly. Starring Mr. T as a fictionalized superhero version of himself, the game is based on his portrayal in Mohawk Media's series of Mr. T graphic novels.[1]

Damn there needs to be a way that you could buy individual cars. I mean that the developer could produce a slew of awesome cars and you could buy one for a dollar or something. Cause I would love to have an SA22 '79-'80 Rx-7 or a '66 Corvair 180 Turbo or Yenko Stinger.

Also they should develop more tracks, they could keep Forza interesting for a while.

All week long I've been looking forward to day one of a 3 week Goon tournament, and I completely fucked up both of tonight's races.

In race 1, I got shuffled back to about 6th place, but I was pounding round some good laps and thought I might have a shot to catch up to the main group. All of a sudden, somebody fucking knocks on my door. So I have to pull over to fucking answer it. Some asshole in the building ordered a pizza but had it delivered to the wrong fucking apartment. So that race was ruined.

2nd race, on lap fucking one of a 12 lap race at Silverstone, coming up to a turn I'd been having trouble with in practice, people ahead of me start crashing and I'm so concerned with not hitting anyone that I braked way too late and ended up slamming into someone anyway and fucking up my engine. So that race is ruined too.

And I don't know if my new neighbor ordered that pizza, but if I hear another drunken WOO come from the other side of this wall I'm going to punch through it and rip his fucking cock off.

We'd put together a mini-tournament where the cars could have a 300 hp (223 kw) maximum, 2400 lbs (1088 kilos) minimum, included a roll cage, and no higher than B class. There's two groups of 8 competing, 2 races a week for 3 weeks. On week 3 to make things interesting, the groups will change where the top 4 of both groups will form a new group, the bottom 4 doing the same, so the 8 strongest drivers will compete against each other, and the 8 weakest drivers will compete against each other. It's competitive but even if the guy driving it wasn't a complete moron, finishing in the top 3 in a given race would require some luck compared to what I'm up against. I didn't have a whole lot of time to practice with the way I had it tuned, so this weekend I might be able to fine tune things better before the upcoming races. It desperately needs a race wing, but there isn't one available to buy.

Oh, forgot some other stipulations with the series...had to be front engined with the original drivetrain layout.

Finally raced online last night. A couple quick races and a few 'last man standing' or whatever it is. Got as high as 2nd in the quick races, because it was R1 or higher, and everyone was using a fucking X999 ARX-01 or whatever and all I had to use was the stock R1 Mazda B09. Still felt like I did good.
Won a couple demo derbys once I got a fucking SUV that could take some abuse.

its snowing like hell outside (again), we're supposed to get 2 feet. so im trapped here and all the stores are closed anyway (no answer at any of the best buys around here), my xbox is broken, i cant find the controller charge cord for my ps3, and my wii is over omni's house. :grrr:
