Re: Football 2009-10 GOOOOOOOOOOOO
It was both. The scream came afterwards, when I realized the gun shot didn't finish me off.
Seriously, that was a fantastic game to watch. As I said before, I would have rooted for the Saints had they been playing against anyone else. They were definitely the better team. Solid brass balls to do that onside kick at the beginning of the 2nd half...from that point on, they let the Colts know they were there to fucking win. The interception was rough...it sure looked like Peyton had a good throw to an open man, but Porter made a hell of a play to pick that ball off. The Saints D did what they needed to do, and the Colts D was just porous.

That was a good game. Came down to the wire, really, even though the score might not reflect it. That's all I was hoping for... didn't really care who won.

I'd like to think Jim Caldwell is sitting in a darkened room with a joyous smirk, saying to himself, "Just as planned."

Re: Football 2009-10 GOOOOOOOOOOOO
I came home Monday after spending the weekend watching the Super Bowl with the folks (they have an HDTV and I don't). I was unloading my car, and my upstairs neighbor was coming out to the parking lot. I've never met him before or even seen him walking around, but he got a huge grin when he saw my Colts hat and was all, "How 'bout them Colts, huh?" I was all, "Yeah, the Saints have an awesome team and they played a perfect game and earned that win," and when he walked off, he loudly did the Nelson "Ha-Haw!"
I don't even know this guy!

id like to see what would have happened if tony dungy was coaching. maybe not much different, or maybe they would have won, who knows.

They wouldn't have even gotten to the Super Bowl. Tony wouldn't let go of the shitty defensive coordinator and special teams coach. Caldwell brought in new guys for those positions and tried beefing up the DTs. Changes that were a long time coming and part of the reason the Colts had such a successful run.
Unfortunately, their improved special teams play and great defense completely dissolved in the 2nd half of the Super Bowl.

Ah damn. Turns out the Adidas plant that's going to be churning out the Saints' "Super Bowl Champions" T-shirts...is in Indianapolis.

You took that well. I'd be finding out which team he followed and planning a 2010-11 season-long revenge.

You took that well. I'd be finding out which team he followed and planning a 2010-11 season-long revenge.
The reason I took that well is because:
A) The Colts still had a better season than 30 other teams. A disappointing loss, but overall, a good season, and one to build on for next year. I can't be pissed that they made the Super Bowl, win or lose.
B) I remember 7 years ago when the Jets totally embarrassed the Colts in the playoffs 41-0 in a game where the Colts just absolutely stunk up the joint on every play. That one was hard to take. This one wasn't anything like that. Most other nights against most other teams, the Colts might have pulled it off even being off their game as much as they were compared to the rest of the season, but the Saints were just too good. No shame losing to them at all.
C) If that guy wasn't just being shitty to be shitty, and he really was a Saints fan, I'd bet money that he wasn't a Saints fan 3 months ago.

Those are the very reasons his reaction would have annoyed me. In 2002 and 2003, my team lost Grand Finals (to the same opponents). The first time was a great game and either team would have deserved the win. The second time they were hopeless and never looked like coming close.
I was way more annoyed at the idiotic comments after the first loss, because it was a great effort that deserved respect, especially from supporters of genuine loser teams.
Of course, earlier tonight Collingwood (my team) lost their first pre-season match 100-99 against the evil St Kilda (Dunnas' team). Even though I've been away from work for a month, I know that most of the comments on Monday morning will be about the loss.

Well look on the bright side. We beat you in the real season too and you didn't score a goal in the second half.
Of course we didn't score a goal in the final quarter tonight either but that isn't important.

Re: Football 2009-10 GOOOOOOOOOOOO
I can't believe we lost that game. The most dominant third quarter I have ever seen to result in no goals (although the Dogs did the same thing against the Hawks that Sunday but managed to score with 11 seconds to go).
We would have been better off with Riewoldt staying on the ground, as Presty had him covered.
This week is hilarious, because I forgot to put my tips in so they default to the home teams. Which means NM is the only incorrect tip so far and at half time Carlton are looking good against the Cats! If they win it's going to be ridiculous - the round prize is $100 for first and $50 for 2nd-4th (decided by the first game's margin) but there will probably be 100 people who forgot to tip. We'll all get a couple of dollars or something.
