The Not-So-New Movie Thread
I know a lot of us don't get time to go and see movies in the theater, we just wait for them to come out to dvd or tv and then watch them. So this thread is for anyone who wants to post their thoughts on a not-so-new movie.
I just saw The Incredible Hulk with Ed Norton and Liv Tyler. I never followed the comic, so I don't know how accurate it was, but I have to say it wasn't a bad movie at all. The special effects weren't bad either.
Also saw Iron Man (must be my week for comic book movies). Another comic I never followed, but was a good movie. Robert Downey Jr. was pretty funny. Definitely can't wait for the next movie.
Speed Racer - Now I know when this movie first came out, I really didn't want to see it and I figured the Wachowski Brothers just fucked up the idea of the original show and blah blah blah. Well I watched it and I have to say I liked it. It was really a live action cartoon which I think the Wachowski's did extremely well. I won't lie have have watched it a few times.
Shooter - I generally like Mark Wahlberg movies and this adds to the list. I really liked this movie, I think mainly because Wahlberg is such a know-it-all badass in his movies.

They made Hulk into too much of a pussy. He was too easily hurt by stuff and was almost struggling to pick up that 3 ton Humvee. >\
If you're a Hulk fan you should play the original xbox game "Incredible Hulk:Ultimate Destruction"

I'm glad I'm not the only one that liked Shooter. It's fun watching the good guy kick some ass, in a totally bad ass way.

Which one are you talking about? The newest one or the retarded one from few years back? In the newest one he wasn't hurt by anything and he wasn't having a hard time throwing shit around, for christ sake he smashed a Crown Vic into two pieces and used both ends for boxing gloves.

The newest one. Remember when they were shooting the sound waves at him and he was laying on the ground holding his ears for like 2 minutes? GAY. And they got the metal boxing gloves idea from the game I referenced.

Shooter was a fun movie, though the ending kinda dragged out a bit. Less talky and more badassery, please.
Iron Man was pretty good...better than I expected it to be.

Yeah, but he has to have some sort of a fucking weakness, every superhero does, plus if I remember correctly, he figured out how to destroy those Humvees with the two pieces of iron that he had.

I'm pretty sure they got the law wrong in Shooter though. The DOJ could have totally charged with international crimes domestically.
Totally put me off.

I really liked Shooter. All those big guns. That chick was damn hot in that tight, white shirt.
I just watched the whole Rome series (well, the first season) that was on HBO a few years back. It was pretty good... I enjoyed it.
I just DVR'ed the new Rockey movie so I have to watch it sometime.

Just saw Gran Torino. OK movie, but alot of the acting and dialogue seemed cliched and forced. It just wasnt very convincing. Dirty Harry was better.

Just watched 3:10 to Yuma. Holy fuck what an awesome movie. Haven't seen a good western in a long time.
Russell Crowe and Christian Bale were both good.

Re: The Not-So-New Movie Thread
3:10 to Yuma was quite good. I love westerns.
- Spoiler:
- I especially like the part at the end when Prince tries to rescue Wade and then suddenly it hits him like a ton of bricks that Wade isn't on his side anymore and he desperately tries to pull out his revolver to defend himself, probably realizing he's fucked anyway because it's Ben Wade he's up against. Great scene.

"W" came in my Netflix. It was actually pretty good --- and funny. It even portrayed the pretzel incident.

I've been renting older (70's, 80's, 90s') movies lately. I saw Blade Runner again recently. Still don't get any more of it than i did the first seven times around...fucking unicorn...
I also rented Batman and Robin for some reason, which I will readily admit was a huge mistake.

I wasn't overly impressed with 3:10 to yuma. It was pretty forgettable for me and honestly I can't even remember how it ended. One of my favorite westerns is Pale Rider.

I didn't like 3:10 either. Not enough action. Too much of Crow and Bale just bickering at each other.
Saw Wedding Crashers yesterday. Meh. Not very funny.

Watched Yes Man also. It was okay. Plot was pretty stupid and maybe a three on a scale of 1-10 on funny. It was better than Wedding Crashers, though.

he is definitely overrated, and most of the time i dont find him funny, but i liked his role in wedding crashers. i never got into the whole anchorman craze at all and talladega nights was pure garbage. all of his movies are pretty much the same.

I find that most new comedies don't really do much for me. I feel old, but the stuff I find the funniest are shows like Seinfeld, Frasier and MASH (TV and film).

And it's not you being old or anything, Hollywood is just churning out more garbage nowadays then they ever have. I swear, if they make one more idiotic parody like Meet the Spartans, Epic Movie, etc. im going to lose it. New movies that are actually good are starting to get pretty rare.

Yeah, those ones aren't good. The format worked when Leslie Nielson was in them - Naked Gun, Spy Hard, Wrongfully Accused and Airplane! but the new parodies don't do it for me anymore.

The new ones have moments, but for the most part aren't very well written and have poorly-timed jokes. And with the advent of the intArwebs, movies that have more topical humor contain jokes that have already been done on YouTube or Cracked.

lulz yea, Rogan pwned Mencia.
A buddy of mine gave me some some comedy CD's a few weeks ago: Jim Gaffagon, Dane Cook, and Katt Williams. All were about an hour long. The fore-most, and aft-most were hysterical. Middle, not so much. I think I laughed three times during that hour of Dane. ffffffffffffffuck that guy

Re: The Not-So-New Movie Thread
I'll admit that I like some of Dane Cook's stuff. Certainly no comedic great by any means, but he makes me laugh, especially his older stuff. He gets more intolerable as the years go by. Mencia, however, can suck a dick.
Joe Rogan is absolutely hilarious, though. It's a shame he's mainly known for Fear Factor, because in real life he's nothing like he was on the show. His stand-up act is great.
