Windows Shutdown Color Balance & Xbox 360 or PS3

Does anyone know the color balances that happen to the desktop when you click "turn off computer"? The wallpaper looks a lot better than your average black and white shot.

Also, I'm buying either an Xbox 360 or PS3 today. Not sure which one yet.

I'm not sure. It's definitely not just a desaturation as it's a bit higher contrast. It almost looks like there's an ever-so-slight touch of blue in it.

yeah, so in addition to spending 400 at least on the ps3, you will have to spend another 40-50 for hd cables which they should have included in the first place.

my love affair with the ps3 is over.

however, if the 360 jaspers starts to RROD, i'm done with the 360 as well and will never buy another console. i'll stick to PC games.

You can get HDMI cables for less than $10. :roflmao:

PS3 = Blu-Ray player
PS3 = Rechargeable controllers, not requiring one to buy batteries or rechargeable batteries, which cost more than an HDMI cable.
PS3 = 1080p whereas Xbox 360 = 720p
PS3 = Backwards compatible with games and memory cards (not the cheapest one); Xbox 360 is neither. I got $60 for my PS2 at Gamestop.
PS3 = Doesn't sound like my dad's weed whacker when running.
PS3 = FREE online play; Xbox ~ $12/ month
PS3 = No RROD which happened you mine and yours, Honor.

Same here. I'm glad the g/f didn't get me a PS3 for Christmas. I'd be over it already, I'm sure. I kind of dig the 360. But, again, meh. I'm fascinated by watches right now. Watches and paying off my car.

Well, I got the Xbox.

The one thing that kept me wanting the PS3 was GT. I've played Forza 2 before but not thought too much of it, so there must be some other decent car game. Is Project Gotham 3 any good? The store had it for $9 pre-owned. Or PGR4 for $30.

360 can do 1080p. go into the settings and see for yourself. you might be thinking of the wii, that maxes out at 720. and since when does the 360 not play original xbox games? i used to play halo 2 and the original fable on mine all the time. and xbox live is 4 bucks a month or less and a billion times better than playstation online. i dont know where you were paying 12 a month, thats the highest ive ever heard of. and yeah, its not the best built unless you get an elite or something with the new motherboard, but at least they extended the warranties for a while. i havent had any problems with mine in a loooong time.

and i dont sell my systems like you talon. i keep them all for nostalgic purposes since theyre usually worth shit anyway by the time the next gens come out. i still have a sega dreamcast up in my closet. in like 30 years its gonna be one of the only ones left in the world, watch. :roflmao:

i love pc games as much as the next guy, but its a royal pain in the ass having to upgrade them to be able to handle the newest games every year or two. id love to play crysis but the rig i would need to handle it would cost more than some people's cars.

im sticking with whatever games my 3ghz 2g ram geforce 6800 can handle for several more years. comps are just too expensive.

PS3 = God of War, Gran Turismo, R&C (one of my favorites).

X360 has Gears 2 (the original Gears was just okay, IMO) and I'd miss Ace Combat (which used to be a PS exclusive), but as far as Halo... game is way overrated.

God of War trumps all anyway.

Like I said, I got $60 for my PS2 when I took it to Gamestop. I was surprised to get that much, but all the same that's more than "worth shit" to me... plus it's one less thing to worry about having to plug into the TV and sit there taking up space collecting dust when I will never use it again.

Yea, now that you mention it I remember playing some old Xbox games on my 360 after it d/l'ed some stuff for it... but when I tried it would only do select games. Halo 2 worked, but some others didn't. Maybe they fix that by now. BUT, you still can't transfer data if I recall. You'd have to start the game over which is a pain if you have achievements. When I go back and play some of my R&C games or GoWII, I don't want to have to get all the weapons and achievements over again. Maybe one of these days I will play some GT4 again, and would be pissed if I had to start from scratch

they just said on cnbc that sony announced a 35% price cut for the ps3. i can't find it on bloomberg or reuters yet, though. that would put the price around $270 for an 80g.

nevermind. as usual, cnbc reported the news incorrectly. sony announced that their cost decreased 35%. ps3 sales price is unchanged.

well, they don't actually make a profit on ps3 sales, since it costs more to build them than they sell for. it's just that now it only costs them about $440 to build each one, instead of $600 or whatever it was.
