Re: Went looking at cars today
Actually, I would take a Challenger over the 3 too. Just a plain white R/T with a Manual. I'd get all Vanishing Point on myself.

Well, get them while you can. Word on the street is its going away soon, or will be replaced by a different car.

you mean you're going to pop pills to stay awake, nudge a Jag off a bridge, and go driving around aimlessly through the desert?

Re: Went looking at cars today
as I've heard, its definitely going to be an SRT, rather than a Dodge. What's unclear is whether it's going to still be called Challenger, or whether it will be called Barracuda, which would be the more logical choice. adding more murk to the waters is whether or not the Challenger as we know it actually survives, and just carries on with the R/T being its top model, while the 'Cuda gets the more powerful engine(s).Benfolio wrote:Well, get them while you can. Re: Went looking at cars today
I watched Clarkson's review of the Fiesta before taking one for a spin. To be honest, I came away disappointed. The controls are just too light. Mind you, I was driving the auto because this is a car for my gf. But it doesn't have the zing promised in the reviews.

Re: Went looking at cars today
I'm sick. I'm already thinking about what I want next. If things work out well, I'll have the GTI paid off soonish (year or two). We'll probably end up selling my fiance's Golf in the new year. So what I'm hoping to do is give her the GTI as a DD, and go find something cool and ridiculous for myself to drive around in. We'd be a two performance car family - with one being practical, and the other one being mine.

Jesus Wally you change cars more than I change underwear. Just accept the fact that you're never going to be happy with anything you buy and just get a Corolla or something.

Re: Went looking at cars today
It's getting closer to new car time for me. Barring any setbacks, after the end of the month I should be good to start the car buying process in earnest.
To that end, I drove an Elantra coupe and a Dart today. I liked the Elantra quite a bit. Good controls with everything laid out well, handled nice with a crisp steering feel, decent acceleration though not quite as good as the Focus, nice interior for the class and fairly comfortable...not bad at all.
Test driving the Dart totally killed my desire for it. It was quick enough (2.0 L), but it felt big and heavy and was slow to steer; just not as responsive as I hoped. I could never get comfortable in it, as I just couldn't settle into the padding in the upper part of the seat back, and the bottom part of the seat was pitched a bit far forward for my liking. There were a few bright spots in the interior, such as in the center console and door padding, but overall it just feels cheap inside. The stereo couldn't read my USB stick and the port where I plugged it in was loose like it was about to fall out (the Elantra had no trouble).
So yeah, the Dart's out of the running. Not as good as either the Elantra or the Focus.

well thats kinda disappointing, i was thinking maybe they were turning over a new leaf and not building shitbuckets anymore. looks like ill have to continue my tradition of never buying a dodge.

Re: Went looking at cars today
That is kind of sad that Dart wasn't to your liking. I can't say I'm a fan of the Elantra, but if its what you like, go for it.

Re: Went looking at cars today
1.4L multi-air turbo is said to be the preferred engine for Dart. That said most car reviewers are more than pleased with the interior of the Dart. But meh it's all just personal. I like the Elantra (it gets flamed by reviewers for lack of feel in the electronically controlled power steering) but IMO in that market I'd favor Dart for all it gives and some cool extras. I'd have to get the LED race track tail lights. And of course the manual, though some reviewers noted the dual clutch auto is a better match to the different engines. But I would not care, I want to row my own gears

Re: Went looking at cars today
Actually, I've heard multiple reviews saying the 1.4 Multiair is crap in the Dart. You've got to wind it out pretty high to get the turbo to kick in and get any benefit out of it, and the Dart is so heavy that the 1.4 just struggles without the turbo. The Dart is a cool looking car on the outside, but as far as value is at the price point I'm looking at, other cars seem to edge it in terms of features. Higher trims do have some pretty good value, though.
Re: Went looking at cars today
Yeah they need to bring the Tigershark out ASAP for the Dart. The 1.4L turbo sounds good on paper, but it's the same engine in the Abarth, which is a much much smaller car.

I'm disappointed the Fiesta ST starts at $21K. I was hoping Ford would get it in the 18ish range.

If you are actually interested in a So Ko car, i prefer KIA's over Hyundai's.
Yes Hyundai has more models, and they seem basically the same. But outside of the engine/trans and sub structures they are very different.
But i may be biased since i work for the red team and not the blue team.

I was disappointed in that as well. It's nice that it goes fast, but it's not $7,000 nicer than the base model.

The only thing really keeping me off Kia lots is the Louisville Kia dealer network. All of them are owned by the same dealer group, and they add on a lot of bullshit stuff to mark up their cars. If you want a new Kia, you have no other option but to deal with them. I may swing by one of the lots and see if anything's changed since then, but I'm not optimistic.
Re: Went looking at cars today
Yup kias dealer network is not always the best. It's one of the many reasons I have a fiat and not a kia

I heard it at our dealer group first, then they stopped, then the local more annoying one started up. ROSEN ROSEN ROSEN!
Re: Went looking at cars today
Ah there are Rosen dealers down in Chicago Suburbs some where. They always do that ROSEN! ROSEN! ROSEN! thing to the theme to Rawhide.
