Re: GT5 Thread
There's plenty of standing starts, I think' I've only seen a handful of flying starts.
But totally agreed on the money and the B-Spec AI. It pisses me off that you can't redo a series and win another car, too. I like having duplicates sometimes. I mean Hell, even GT3 let you win multiple cars in the series events at least. And it seems that if a car's sale price would be over 100,000 credits: "This car cannot be sold. Remove from your garage anyway?"
No, dammit! Sell it anyway and give me some damn money.
Supposedly, you can get a lot more money and exp by doing the online events, but I don't have home internet access anymore so I have to do my fair share of grinding as well.
And after getting my B-Spec AI up to about level 30 after not wanting to bother with it at all, I still say it is utterly incompetent, and you're better off not dealing with drivers that are too pantywaisted to legitimately pass opponents and back off halfway through the overtake, or "kinda-pass" them, only to let them by at the next turn, jab the brakes harder than necessary (I even tried turning the brakes off entirely, and they still somehow slam on them), or slow down to a bloody crawl if you try to leave them alone and let them do their work.
It is literally the only place where a Mustang can smoke a Bugatti Veyron. Makes no sense.
Another gripe I have is that the opponent AI's regularly engage in dirty racing tactics that no real, honest, honorable race driver would engage in to get ahead. I'm sick of getting PIT-maneuvered by second place just because I won't let him pass me. Or the bastards that slam on their brakes when you try to draft them.
Also have I mentioned that I hate NASCAR? And Jeff Gordon? I have? Have I mentioned how much?
I mean is this really the only representative of American motorsports in the world?
I know they were trying to set it up a little bit more like GT2 and GT3, to make it more difficult, but I can't help but be slightly disappointed myself. One thing the could have done to make it more like GT2 and 3 was to give it a better soundtrack. But at least you can substitute your own music.

You need to take your PS3 somewhere that does have internet access (like pretty much the whole world except your house, are you living in 1983 or something?) and download the updates. One of them has seasonal races that net you a heap of money and experience.

Re: GT5 Thread
Honestly, even though GT2 had a nice sound track, I never turned it on. I just wanted the sound effects. I do GT5 the same way. I don't even have the radio on in the car all that much in real life, if I'm driving by myself. If my daughter is in the car though, it's all kids music all the time until she passes out. Or the Beatles. She will concede on them. All other adult music gets vocal protests, and a lot of kicking the back of my seat...
spaced cowboy- And so the woe continues.
