Re: Dodge's autox thread
well not necessarily "lugging" them. keep two sets, change the tires to the track tires before you leave, and leave your street tires at home. planning ahead saves time :)

Re: Dodge's autox thread
yeah a lot of guys do that, but, as noted I don't drive the car on the street that often so i'll just stick with a nice set of street tires. I'm happy in the class i'm in don't want to move up to the race tire classes
Re: Dodge's autox thread
well they don't even need to be race tires either. I just used better-quality street tires suitable for sports cars. or maybe even the same type. just a different set, one reserved for street use, another reserved for track use.
I mean I don't think I've ever even been in a position to afford real racing tires in my life, aside from mandatory drag slicks--rear only--that you were required to use at the strip I went to. and those even were waaay fuckin expensive.
but i see where you're getting at, you don't drive it enough to warrant a different set. it's just generally a good rule if you're tracking the same car you drive around regularly.

Re: Dodge's autox thread
Doing a bunch of work on it during the off season, just finished stripping/painting the interior, put new suspension bushings and arms on, and getting ready to paint the body

Re: Dodge's autox thread
you should put a cage in it while you have no interior.

Maybe for one in the Zuk.
If i had a garage, i'd just buy a welder and a Tubing bender.

I saw a guy in a rusted early 90s accord wagon with a fart can on it backing into a spot and revving his engine like his car is actually fast. God that annoyed me, hope nobody actually thinks that turd is anything more.

then he inadvertantly skidded the caddy in reverse on my driveway. everybody must've thought i'm a douche.

Codrove it with a buddy at first autox of the year, held up great for all 12 runs, took first and second in class, but he beat me by 3 tenths of a second
Re: Dodge's autox thread
Wind noise = bad. Wanted to hear more tire squeal and exhaust.... don't they have some kind of thingy on the mic to cut down on wind noise?

Re: Dodge's autox thread
First time on the new road course, fun! can't wait to do the whole thing someday.
Re: Dodge's autox thread
Ok, two questions.
1) GoPro?
2) Do they call that an AutoX or Time Trials? It seems awfully big for an AutoX course.
