Automotive Woe Thread
I figured we should have a thread dedicated to our own current automotive failure in life.
Mine are mostly related to my Cherokee. The list consists of:
Alternator needs replaced
Exhaust gasket between the downpipe and the precat exhaust has fallen out
Both hood latches have broken and have been substituted with a bungee cord
Some bearing whine out of the front axle
Rear defrost no longer works
Shitty General Grabber AW tires have shit for traction on ice and snow
Both rear doors don't function properly and rear passenger door handle button has fallen out
Found that at some point someone broke the stud fir one of the shocks on the rear axle and welded the shock directly to the axle
Front bumper still held on on one side with a bungee cord
It sucks not having any money.

The Liberty
Really needs its Antifreeze/coolant changed
Power Steering fluid is old along with brake fluid
rear axle needs have a fluid change
front pinion seal has small leak
Samurai
Desperately needs Tires
Some Rust issues on the body
I have a Mini-spool for the rear end, but its in my apartment
front wheel bearings need to be repacked

maxima
clutch still fucked
brakes are probably only good for another 10k mi
coolant needs to be flushed
power steering fluid has some dirt in it
manual transmission oil should probably be changed
struts are hurting - lots of creaking/groaning
paint starting to come off on the the rocker panels again, for no identifiable reason
steering wheel radio controls starting to get flaky again
should probably get some new plugs and wires, since mine are 8yrs old next month

Re: Automotive Woe Thread
My windscreen has recently developed a growing winding crack working its way down from the top for no apparent reason.

Oh I do have some woe on the Durango
Check engine lights been on for the last year, but nothing seems to be wrong, so I think the O2 sensor is dead cause it's not flashing a code
Both wheels on the driverside have lost the center caps, and seeing that almost every other Durango I see is missing the center caps, so that means Dodge didn't make shit for caps
Brakes need to be done or close to it, both brake lights have come on the dash
As soon as warm weather gets here, I need to wetsand the wheels, no matter how much I clean them, they stay stained by brake dust

Re: Automotive Woe Thread
Temporary 240:
Clutch is starting to slip
timing chain rattles when warm (low oil pressure due to rounded of gear on pump)
needs struts, alignment, ball joints, everything suspensionish
ConeDodger240:
OBDII motor on a OBDI Ecu=idle issues mostly with revdown
ugliest paint ever

Re: Automotive Woe Thread
Trim pieces on the Stratus interior door pulls are still broken
Cruise control still intermittent, but for some reason has been working well lately.
Keyless entry doesn't work when it gets near freezing and below.
Forgot: Instrument lights flicker occasionally due to a bad multifunction switch.
Have a big 90,000 mile maintenance service that needs to be done...oil, coolant, tranny fluid, tune up, alignment, etc. Will be doing that later this week.
Otherwise...awesome!

Re: Automotive Woe Thread
Just got back from my big round of preventative maintenance.
After looking the car over, add bent steering rack to the list

Re: Automotive Woe Thread
Legacy:
Passenger side mirror crack is growing, now covers top to bottom of glass.
Rear tophats (strut mounts) are noisey as fuck over sharp bumps.
Right front tire losing air, but only down to 28PSI.
Rust bubbles went apeshit on the rear quarters. Common area for rust.
Clutch still has chatter when wet out. Couldn't machine the flywheel when I did the clutch in October due to lack of time.
Motor mounts still allow way to much jerking when gettitng on/off the throttle quickly in gear.
Trunk seal torn/leaks water.
Miscellaneous bulbs burnt out for hazard switch, defrost switch, fog light switch.
CX-7:
Right front of bumper got a crack somehow, and has a 1"x1/2" hole in it.
Interior is filthy from having two kids in it all the time.
But it's got new tires now.
