Pretty good so far. Great selection of cars including the Veyron, Reventon and the McLaren F1. Also has the E36, E46, and E92 M3s. Also the new Nissan GT-R in both standard and V-Spec forms. Also the 370Z and even 240 and 180sx. Physics not sim like but def alot better than in earlier NFS titles. easily thr most realistic NFS ever. and the car interiors are beautiful.

Man, I am having a hard time controlling these damn cars. I feel like I am counter-steering more than steering. Not impressed with the physics. I've messed with the advanced controls a lot to help, but, meh... GT5 or Forza are very smooth but these controls are very herky-jerky and I don't like that. Lose a lot of time in the process...

I am going to give it more time and am looking forward to getting into the tier 1 cars.

I know, the steering is a bitch at first but I think I'm pretty used to it now. But I was all over the track before. Something is definitely off about it though. It's def. easier to control the car in Race Pro than this, and that shouldnt be the case given RP is a sim and this isnt.

I did that already. :undies: My first car was the S2000 and that car was so hard to control. Unless I crawled through a turn the ass would always kick out. Because of the controls being bad, it was very hard to gently correct. So it's either do I let it go and smash into the inside wall or try and correct and smash harder into the outside wall? The Evo I have now is a lot more stable. Hopefully the tier 1 cars are even more so or they're going to be impossible to control.

I have a couple hours into it. Might need more. I also hate how it seems like this game is more like bumper cars than a racing sim. The game rewards you for crashing into opponents... that and I have a great lap going and the computer isn't shy about smashing into me. :grrr:

ANd yeah, I didn't notice it as much from the in-car view, but while you're driving it's a very thin line between the car turning lightly and throwing the back out. It even happens in my Evo. It can make it very tough to control the cars. I still have fun though.

I am starting to get more used to it, or maybe I am getting more used to my Evo. I did a race between the Murci and Gallardo and the Murci was pretty easy to control. I am going to buy that when I get enough $ for it.

Need for Speed Shift Empty Re: Need for Speed Shift

Post by Honor Sat Sep 19, 2009 12:19 am

Talon, found this. Hope it helps. I haven't tried it yet but people are praising it.

There is now a 2nd fix for the sensitive steering/oversteer problem this game exhibits in its default settings. And let me tell you it is a NIGHT and DAY difference.
Please use 2nd fix along with the original thread suggestions on turning down sensitivity in the control options.

I have posted the original sensitivity config here:

Steering Dead Zone-15%
Accel Dead Zone-10%
Brake Dead Zone-10%
Steering sensitivity-5%
Acell Sensitivity -5%
Brake sensitivity-5%
Speed steering Sensitivity 100%

On to the 2nd fix:

At the main menu enter CAR GARAGE----> TUNING, press 'Y' to enter quick tuning mode.
Under the heading 'balance' move the slider all the way to OVERSTEER. That's right oversteer. Apparently the developer labeled this slider wrong or its a glitch. Turning the slider to oversteer will actually add understeer.

Now go drive. as you can see the cars are now more comparible to the feeling of Forza2 and RacePro. It may not be as good but it is now close! There was a sim hidden somewhere in all this mess and I may have to take back some to the nasty things I said beforehand :)

(Special thanks to Torque Spike for finding this on the EA forums!)

Need for Speed Shift Empty Re: Need for Speed Shift

Post by Honor Sat Sep 19, 2009 12:22 am

oh and the original

it seems that some folks are having trouble with rear end breaking loose on there rides. First thing you should do to fix this is give your self a 5 or 10 dead-zone setting which ever is more comfortable and tone down the steering sensitivity by at least 10 points. Also reduce the dead-zone on gas an break to zero giving the triggers maximum travel distance.

A spoiler an upping the down-force in car tuning also is like night an day. I'll create a more detailed guide latter on I'm still coming to grips with the new physics model in the game. hope it helps bro's

Try these settings guys its a nice base line an brings the cars under control:

Steering Dead Zone 35
Accelerator Dead Zone 5%
Brake Dead Zone 5%
Steering Sensitivity 30%
Braking Sensitivity 35%
Speed Steering sensitivity 100%

These setting seem like a good baseline for getting the skittishness out of the game initially. an provide a great driving experience in near stock an stock vehicles. These are for the 360 controller I'll play around with the steering wheel latter an get you guys some settings after i get some sleep.

Car tuning in the game is pretty in depth an I'll be giving my thoughts on that to, two things i know will help in tuning is add a spoiler an nail the down force to the max to tack down that rear end. Also losing a few pounds of pressuer in the rear tires improved handling a lot.

Right no I'm using Tier 1 Scion TC, & Tier 2 an Dodge Challenger Concept. Tunes will be coming soon =). i definatly see a Faq being written in my future.

It's pretty funny how the fastest way to earn points to level up is by driving like a complete fucktard. The Forza 2 leveling system was much better.

I know it. I was doing a race around Leguna and got passed on the second to last turn on the last lap. He got a good lead going into that 90* left before the front straight and I just said fuck it and floored it and plowed into him. Ended up winning. :jay:

Post by Talon Sun Sep 20, 2009 12:10 pm

The thing that got me was I was racing with my Murci, which is all decked out. Long straight with a very slight left, maybe 10*, full throttle the whole way. Of course, like every other turn, the ass kicked out some so I lightly corrected. Before I could blink the car was into the guard rail scraping up against it. SO I keep trying to turn off the rail and the car wouldn't turn. Eventually I turned enough to get the car off the rail and immediately fly into the rail on the other side. Wash, rinse, repeat. Fucking retarded.

I'm done. This game is going towards my CoDII reservation.
