Yeah man. It's totally normal, rational, and non-dickish to say you "fucking hate" an entire profession. I forgot. Fuck me. Epecially a profession that actually does a lot of good. What the fuck was I thinking. You're right, of course. Maybe we should all just be condescending pricks who hate everything 100% of the time.
If you had to go to the ER twice and have doctors either give you an incorrect diagnosis or indicate they have no clue what's going on, depending on the situation SBF is in, you too might be a bit scared and upset and lash out.
And I'd be pissed off about the incompetent doctors. If they were incompetent.

Sorry if you had a bad experience with a doctor. That doesn't mean for a second that they don't know anything (hey lets generalize some more!). Yeah, some cases are puzzle. Sometimes they can't help. That's life. We don't know everything there is to know about the human body, and it's doubtful we ever will. Illness and disease outpaces medical research hand over fist.
And it's 8 years of school plus a lot more if they specialize. Not 7 years.

Re: FML - F*** My Life
This whole day has been a fuck story. I have been in the ER since 4 am for my wife not myself, who had a miscarriage this weekend and speant 4 days in the hospital because she was in a severe amount of pain and was bleeding. She was released Monday afternoon and has been in pain since then. Last night when she couldn't stand the pain anymore and couldn't pee for the previous 5 hours though she had to, it was time to go back to the ER.
We speant 8 hours in the ER being told that they were not sure what was going on with her even though they did every test and CT scan possible, to wait until 11:00 for the OB that was supposed to be there at 8 to tell us that the methotrexate (the same drug they use to treat cancer) that was given to my wife on Sunday was going to cause severe pain because it's dissolving the outer skin of the reproductive parts, and that it should last up to the end of the week and she didn't understand why the first OB perscribed only Ibprofin for the pain.
Then they sent us home at noon.
If anyone was put through the same shit we were today, they would feel the same way I do. Especially with the shit I've been put through this past week.

about fucking KIDS who NOBODY KNOWS (not even you, in all probability, although i don't know that) being healed by NOT YOU but your awesome doctor girlfriend who knows more than the guy who may have recently thought (and may still think) that his (or his loved one's) fucking LIFE is in danger.
dude, this whole fucking forum is entirely based around the concept of being condescending pricks who hate everything 100% of the time. like people who whisper in the office etc. etc.
Hey, you know what? Fuck you. I have full sympathy for SBF, and whatever he's going through. yeah, I know it can be fucking tough. But no, I'm not going to just fucking ignore general insults about a group of professionals I have a ton of respect for simply because someone's has a bad experience. Full sympathy to SBF, and I sure don't hold anything against him for what he said either.
And you're right, I have made large, baseless, generalizations about whole groups of people before. And you know what, YOU CALLED ME OUT ON IT. YOU DID. (see, I can type in capitals too!). I remember at least a couple of times last year you doing that - right in the middle of my articling year where I was fucked up, and pissed off, and not thinking straight. And you know what else? You were right to do it.
Oh, one other thing. When I complain about people doing stupid shit - like semi-whispering in offices - I'm talking about the acts. NOT the people. If someone wants to complain about incompetent Doctors I won't have thing one to say about it.
isn't it just as much of a generality for you to have admiration for all doctors?
but more to the point, isn't it kinda unnecessary to go apeshit on a guy going through some heavy shit just for the generalization? just call him on it.
anyway, i see you've clearly let it go, so blah.

I admire good doctors. Just like I admire good lawyers and good engineers and good politicians. If I reserve a little extra admiration for doctors, good ones, it's because I've seen first hand the unbelievable pressure they have on them, combined with the long hours and the inherent complexity of their work. So, no, that's not a generality. Bad doctors, and it sounds like this OB is a bad doctor, should rightfully be called out, and removed from their professional organizations and sued for damages.

And, also, obviously if I had known the extent of what was going on I wouldn't have been as abrupt, but how, exactly could have I known that from SBF's first post? yeah.

I didn't respond to that quote, and, to be honest, didn't even see it. I was quoting the second bit further down.
And people go to the ER for shit that's not serious at all times of the night. I don't think that, in itself, is enough for me to be automatically deferential. Especially on AF. That said, obviously, it was serious.

first off, wally, you know i'm your biggest fan on here but fuck man, you need to know when to pick your battles sometimes, and you need to stop taking everything so god damn literally. obviously if sbf says he hates doctors, it's because he had a recent bad experience with them and is justifiably upset. you're smart enough to realize that, so don't be a constant douche and get all defensive.
second, sbf, really sorry to hear about your wif, man.

It will take awhile, for sure.
Have they been able to determine what happened and if she's at risk for problems with future pregnancies? One of the most important things is to make sure she's okay physically. Mentally... well, she'll definitely need all the support she can get.

They think that she may had already been having a chemical pregnancy when we did our IVF procedure. So the embryo didn't get to really implant. The doctors only speculate, they have no real answers. Our specialist says that he's very hopeful when we decide to do this again.
She has a lot of support from me and friends and family.
