Someone put up a bunch of patriotic decorations all over the office for some unknown reason since July 4th was a while ago, and near the elevators, they put this low-hanging star up, and there's a red string loop hanging down from underneath it that didn't get tucked away. If you weren't paying attention, you could fucking hang yourself getting off the elevators.
And we are accepting applications, Aris.

Training here has gotten good enough that you don't need experience. When I first moved up to the internet department, I was considered a risky candidate for promotion because my experience with computers was all just personal, with no official certifications or anything. Nowadays, judging by what I see, I imagine at least a third of the people coming out of training have barely ever seen a computer before.

Just as long as you, you know, TRY. I've had some friends in the past use me as a reference at jobs and end up making me look like shit.

That sounds like our fucktard ex-roommate. We got him a job at my facility, working for Storm's mom as a configuration management specialist, aka Keeper of Software Licenses. He didn't do fuck all the entire time he was there and was seriously almost fired from the world's easiest job. :<_<:

When I was working at Papa John's to get me through college, I helped a buddy try to get a job there twice. The first time, he went through the whole process, got hired, got scheduled, and then never showed up for his first shift, telling me later he got a job elsewhere. Astoundingly enough, he did get hired on again a year or two later when the place was under new management, but ended up quitting after a couple of months because he couldn't handle the responsibilities of the job. :<_<:
ME: (after the store closed and finishing up my duties) Hey, the manager wanted me to check and see how you're doing cleaning the dining room.
HIM: Yeah, I'm pretty much done.
ME: (scanning the room, and seeing all kinds of tracks on the floor, highly visible crumbs on tables and in corners, soda stains, etc) Um...no you're not. Look at all that over there and there and there. It doesn't even look like you mopped half the floor.
HIM: Well...it's cleaner than it was.
Yeah, sweeping and mopping stuff was just too difficult for him.

One of the Lockheed facilities here is actually looking for a CM.
Although Floridians don't actually tan outdoors. That's why there are tanning salons on every corner.

I won't let anyone use me unless I know they will do a decent job. Most of the time you can kind of get a feel for those who aren't going to be any good.
