Any of u actually played with an atari jaguar?
Were the graphics that bad?
I always wanted to play the system's two MK wannabe fighting games.... after the system was dead and everyone made fun of it.

i've never played one, but i think you could probably just download an emulator and run the games on your computer, without bothering with getting an actual jaguar.

I have one. I also have the CD-ROM unit, though it hasn't worked in awhile...I need to open it up or get another one off eBay. The graphics weren't bad, but in many games, they weren't as good as one would expect in a 64-bit system. It was very very good at handling 2D sprites, but it came out right at the time gaming was moving to 3D polygon graphics, and it wasn't very good at handling those. Some games, like Iron Soldier 1 and 2, did it very well. Others, like Club Drive, were godawful. The classic recreation games (Defender, Tempest, Missile Command) were all very good. And Alien Vs. Predator was also great. Super Burnout was about the only good racing game to come out on it. CyberMorph and BattleMorph was good, and Hover Strike CD was decent.
Part of the issue was that the system was buggy to program, and Atari wasn't very helpful at providing developer support. Those that figured things out pulled off some great games. But a lot of developers shortcutted the hardware and most games didn't use the system's full potential.
I played one of those MK style games (Kasumi Ninja). It was shit.

I played it a long time ago. My uncle had one and I remember he paid like 300 or 400 bucks for it when it came out. There were some cool games but overall nothing mind blowing. Did any of you play 3D0?

I dragged mine out of the closet for old times' sake. Yeah, the CD-ROM isn't spinning. Seems to power up and the eye is trying to track, but no spin in the motor.
Oh well...cartridge games still work. And are fun

Hooooly shit...I was doing a bit of wikipedia digging around and found this...
And lo and behold yea verily it came to pass.
Some time later, Imagin Systems, a manufacturer of dental imaging equipment, purchased the molding plates for several of the Jaguar's casings as, with minor modification, they were the right size for housing their HotRod camera.[8] Even the game cartridge molds were reused to create an optional memory expansion card. Later product casings also bear a significant resemblance to the Jaguar.
And lo and behold yea verily it came to pass.

Were the graphics good? As compared to say, MK II?

I heard it was not really 64 bit, though? More like, a couple of 16 bit processors thrown together, which were VERY difficult to make operate at the same time.... a little bit like the sega saturn, just worse.

From wikipedia...
Technically-minded gamers debated the merits of Atari Corp.'s claim: some felt the Jaguar's principal "64-bit co-processors" were simply graphics accelerators, requiring external control from the Jaguar's primary processors; the primary GPU executed a 32-bit instruction-set, while the remaining CPU (68000) was already established to be a 32-bit unit. Others countered that the mere presence of 64-bit ALUs for graphics, was sufficient to validate Atari Corp.'s claim. Design specs for the console allude to the GPU or DSP being capable of acting as a CPU, leaving the Motorola 68000 to read controller inputs. In practice, many developers used the Motorola 68000 to drive gameplay logic and AI.
So it all kind of depends on what you consider 64-bit to mean. And whether or not the game was programmed to take advantage of the 64-bit processors.
