haha fucking Canadian Politics
Lets hold a multi-million dollar election to maintain the status quo! Yay!
On the humor side, my buddy who was running as an 'independent' in Calgary got a wopping 2.9% of the vote. He honestly thought he'd have a chance at being elected too. I'm sure he's very right now.

Your leadership is still shitty, but at least you got to pick out which turds you wanted.

Yeah, first-past-the-post makes me a little bit sick. There goes progress in Canada for the next 4 years.

Re: haha fucking Canadian Politics
Results that were not unexpected. Harper had enough stars aligning to get to a small majority but he falls short. Dion already knows it's over for him as Liberal Leader but Harper even though he does not know it is done as well in the Conservative party. Powers to be saw a glimmer to reach majority and now twice Harper falls short. Dion will be replaced first and trust me the Liberals are going to make sure they get a charismatic, but strong leader. The Conservatives will soon see that Harper being one man control freak is actually stunting his party by quietly beating down any future successor. This will mean an underground movement will rise to kick Harper out of power. The next election will see both the Liberals and the Tories having new leaders. But this time the Liberals will have the more charismatic, stronger and colourful leader.
There is a reason why the Liberals have governed Canada over 90% of the time. They actually more often than not have a better oiled machine even though every once is while it goes "TILT".

On the plus side I'm at least partially responsible for that little orange dot in the middle of an Albertan sea of blue.

Ultimately, not a whole lot will change for most Canadians. It's just a huge waste of potential, in my mind. We could have done so much, in a time when it's urgent to do so.

Of course not. This is the exact, fucking, same government we had before the election. We spent millions of dollars to reaffirm the status quo. Did anyone really expect anything different?

I was giving people 20:1 odds on a Conservative minority.TheWoerus wrote:Turbofrog wrote:Ultimately, not a whole lot will change for most Canadians. It's just a huge waste of potential, in my mind. We could have done so much, in a time when it's urgent to do so.

Having met two of the prospective leaders in person, I'd be voting for Obama too.
