Short shift, half throttle, get into 4th gear as soon as possible (less wheelspin if pointed straight).

Brakes SUCK on the thing. Before you know it you're doing 150mph+. So uh, brake early too.

I know it's not directly translatable, but for shiggles I tried to beat Sabine Schmitz's Transit Nurburgring run with a van that had a weight reduction like on her 2nd run and the stock Transit bumpers. With a flying start I could only get an 11:06. In a van that's newer, lighter, more powerful, has better tires, and in no traffic. Sheeit.

I did the same thing, following rules on a fm.net post. Got a 10:45 from a standing start.
Granted, the in-game 'Ring is longer than the real one, wider, and on Top Gear she didn't get timed from start to finish, she started and finished at different locations, not a full lap.

BTW, I wasn't impressed with the A-Team van designs in the storefront, working on my own.
I need to use it for a couple SUV races in the Event List that magically came up next, with perfect timing.

I was looking for a UPS van, and while there were a bunch of them, they all sucked.

I did some light tinkering with it and the drivetrain gets to be pretty good once you start modifying it. It could be a good C-class car once I get the handling nailed down.

The Transit qualifies for SUV races, which is kinda fun knocking SRT-10 Rams, X6 BMW's, and the like out of the way with a VAN.

I need to see if you can buy some cars individually. There's only a few Porsches that I'd be interested in, and not so many that it's worth dropping $20 on.

Yeah I wasn't interested in the pack AT ALL (I mean, come one, not ONE Pinto-esque Porsche? The 914 is close but... all the other car packs have POSes in them) until I was going through the achievements and saw all the new Porsche ones, and my anal retentiveness kicked in, making me want to buy it just to have the game at 100%.

Although I still have to find a Kinect to get that "Look ma, NO HANDS!" cheevo.
