Got a car in mind and everything. Should be hearing from the bank as to whether they'll approve me.

Yeah. Prius is way too much for me. Used 2007 Subaru Impreza Wagon is what I'm looking at.

You should really look at the corolla / matrix, cause they're running the camry 4-banger (almost 170 hp). I think that they have a sporty model with tighter suspension as well.

Their reason, here, was that I was technically "on probation" with the government for the first year. I had brought in a letter of employment.

it's cause you're still temporary at your job. they have no security that you'll last there long enough, maybe you'll give up, maybe the company don't like you, they don't know.

That's the logic, but it makes no sense when they'll give me $10,000 unsecured anyway. Also, all real jobs have some sort of probation period, and lets face it, if you're doing badly enough to lose a job after the probation period, chances are you'd be fired during a regular, non-probation period anyway.

What I don't get is that there really isn't any rhyme or reason behind it. It can't just be a security thing. They're offering me, upfront almost 34 thousand in various borrowing mechanisms - all unsecured. My suspicion, unfounded, is that they'd rather deny me a personal car loan, and try to get me into a line of credit, which is a lot more lucrative for them - since they're so tempting to pay down, and then use again.
