I place blame almost solely on the UAW.

As a union, they have a responsibility to do the best for their workers as a whole. Instead of insisting on keeping large SUV plants open to save jobs they should have noticed that every fucking one else was making small, fuel efficient cars. Instead of forcing GM to sign bullshit contracts to avoid a total strike you should be working with the employer.

I hope the big 3 fail just so the UAW can no longer exist.

well, for what it's worth, rick wagoner is actually trying to make that company into something. he was tossed into the big tub of shit by the dopes and is slowly getting them out, or at least trying to.

I agree...GM's in the best shape of all 3 of them and is showing by far the most determination to put better products on the market. But they're still hamstrung by the unions. I'm not saying they have to slash all wages and benefits to slave level, but they need to have some wiggle room to do something. When $2000 of each GM vehicle sold is labor costs compared to $60 per vehicle for Hyundai, something needs to be done. But the UAW wouldn't even let the American companies hire non-union workers to cut the grass in front of their factories, putting forth that it's absolutely vital to have union workers making $80,000 a year each to ride on lawnmowers.

there was talk today of GM separating the ex-america division from the american division. that's mostly just some rumor started by some clown.

but, yeah, the union thing is out of control. it's essentially why socialism and capitalism don't play well together.

yeah, i would love to see the leeching uaw die
