Drove a C6 Vette today.

Very fun even though it was an automatic. My friend let me drive it and I had to take it down a twisty road near where I live. Put it in sport mode on the trans, put it in competition mode for the suspension, and had at it. When I pulled onto the twisty road a guy on a crotch rocket turned in after me, I got on it and as I kept an eye in the rear view, I saw he was keeping up with me. When the road straightened out again, the guy on the bike went to pass, honked, and gave me a thumbs up. Also think I shook up my buddy a little bit (according to other people he drives like a granny)

Overall: Ridiculous acceleration. Great handling and brakes. Unfortunate "paddle shifters" from the factory (totally ass-backwards), but fortunate enough to be able to leave it in a gear without interference. Wonderful V8 exhaust note for factory exhaust. Very comfortable to drive. I hear a lot of complaints of the seats from the magazines, but they didn't bother me at all.

Now I wish I had Corvette money.

There was a nice red c6 convertible in front of me today. And a guy around here has a zl1.

I want a C6Z06 way bad.

As much as I think I would want the more powerful one, it had 430 hp. After I did my own acceleration test, I almost peed myself (both good and bad). It handled really well too. I was very impressed and not having driven anything else that is in the same category, i can't compare it and bad mouth it.

Yeah 430hp is more than enough imo. I'd just want it in a manual.

My friend is attempting to sell his s2000 to get a c5 z06, i'm not convinced its a good idea...

And why's that exactly?

It just doesn't excite me like his s2k does, I can't even put a single reason on it, when I get in his car or see his car It screams fun, when I see a C5, I don't get that same feeling.

I dunno man, I'd say that going from an S2000 to a Z06 is an upgrade in pretty much every conceivable way. Except maybe interior build quality or something else minor. They probably even get similiar mileage.

I would have gotten a c5 z06 instead of my wrx, but theyre just too impractical for a dd. Truth be told, I'd even be happy with a base c5, as long as it was manual. Still RWD and 350hp.

I would own a corvette if I could take it to the track. No purpose otherwise. Driving it yesterday was fun, but it's way to easy to speed. Especially when doing 80 only uses up 1/3 of the speedo.

This is somewhat my point, even though its completely impractical, I find the s2k to be a very good daily driver, as well as a great track performer.

But more than anything, the styling, performance and quality of the C5 just doesn't excite my nipples, what else is there to say, sometimes a car just doesn't fit a person.

I’ve never been a fan of the C5 but love the C6. They made some little style changes that helped a lot. Plus the 7.0 of the Z06... I’d be happy with the C6Z06, but think the ZR1 would be too much.

I almost bought an S2000 years back. Glad I didn't. Horribly annoying car for everyday driving. Great weekend cruiser maybe, but if you live in a place with traffic, fuck that. Of course I wouldnt want a Vette for that either.

well then its a good thing that its not your car or your problem.

no its not my car, but I drive it often, and I race and co drive with him, and work on it frequently installing upgraded parts, so its become part mine.
