So yeah, stereo types work down here. Beer, no helmets on quads, lots of mud, and chromosomes were in short supply.

Did they point and make fun of you because you weren't driving a Toyota?

If anything I'd imagine that chromosomes would have been in greater supply there, then elsewhere.

I bought a new 4x4 - needs some tires and some fixing but I love it.

Umm hi Dent, Can you please tell me when you sell that Niva (Because you will )
I may actually want to see what it would take to get one in the states, but i think i have to go older than 25 years.
That thing is bad ass

Re: Went off roading for the first time south of the mason dixon line
I traded my crap LeBaron for it - straight across I might even keep it a couple years - wanted one for the longest time (since '88 when I tried to get my Dad to buy one - he got a Tempo instead )
Zuk - there are a couple old enough to get into the US but they can be hard to find. A few people have - there is even a forum - http://ladausa.net/forum/index.php

I think i'm really only after one for the body,
I'm thinking simple drivetrain that i can find parts for and use it off road.

Surely you could get a body and mount it on a Suzuki Tracker frame or something then. No registration hassles as it could retain the Suzuki VIN!

Actually i was thinking more along the lines of Toyota, but i'm not sure on the vehicles actual size.
Not sure a 22R, or GM 4.3L, or maybe one of those small suzuki V6's, etc.
But i'd really like a garage. :jay:

Re: Went off roading for the first time south of the mason dixon line
Its slightly larger than a two door Tracker - but close. I suppose a cut down early 4Runner frame might work.

Re: Went off roading for the first time south of the mason dixon line
Good timing, Dent. I saw one the other day but thought it must have been another Eastern Euro Fiat Licencer because the badge didn't look like Lada. But your pics confirm it was indeed a Niva. Not sure why I thought myself an expert on Lada badges...
Swerve- My hope has been emancipated, and I'm reconstructing my anguish.
