Anyone play their older consoles?
I was curious. My buddy asked me if I remembered something from an older game, so I pulled out the ole PS2 and started playing Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero and Three as well as GT4. I probably haven't touched it in 2 years.

I used to play San Andreas, that is until my PS2 controller crapped out. I rarely touch the PS3 anyways...
Spinal- And so the woe continues.

I don't play them ALL the time, but I my Dreamcast, Genesis, PS2, and Jaguar get a bit of use still every now and then.

Re: Anyone play their older consoles?
i was surprised to read a PS2 counts as 'older' nowadays...
but yeah; the NES and the sega still get some action. and so does the gamecube

Sold the XBox and games to a friend. Sold the PS2 because the PS3 is backwards compatable. Still play GoW and R&C on occation... typically when a new one is coming out I will go back and play the old ones first.

Only multiplayer. Sometimes Mashed gets a go. A girl in my team at work is promising a Goldeneye party for her housewarming. And my girlfriend players Dynasty Tactix 2 or something on the PS2. Writing that makes me want to break out GT4 so I might play that over the weekend.

A bunch of the Firefly cast is in it. That's got my interest piqued. Still probably won't buy it at launch.
Re: Anyone play their older consoles?
On tonight's episode of Good Game they had a name the console from the sound effect. I got it, can you???

I PS2
Once we get our bedroom set up with a TV, I'm going to hook up my Genesis and play some Toejam & Earl.

Toejam and Earl ruled.
The Genesis used to rule. I had the Sega Channel and everything.

Toejam and Earl was the absolute shit. One of the most fun games ever. It did some really funny stuff with the "opponents" and the gifts that was mind-blowing for the day. My cousin and I sat down for a marathon session one day and played through without stopping until we beat it.

Oh it did more than touch it. It fingered it up the asshole.
However NES was better than the Sega Master Drive and the N64 was better than the Saturn.

Speaking of Nintendo, they need to make Zelda games at a faster rate.

Rush Rush Rally Racing?
I think we played Virtua Tennis 2 about 6 months ago, so it wasn't an amazing feat of recall on my part either.

Genesis had no exclusive titles that I gave a shit about. I can't even think of much other than toejam and earl. It also had shittier graphics and a shittier controller so how exactly did it finger anything up the asshole?

It looks mostly like an add on that they beefed up just enough to try and get people to pay 60 bucks for it. Ign sucked its dick but I read elsewhere that it's a pretty bad value.

Goldeneye was one of the best games I've ever played but it has not aged well. After playing games like CoD it's really hard to enjoy it anymore.

I just liked it more. And I liked the Genesis controller more than the SNES one. And the graphics were about the same from what I remember most of the time.

Graphics were close, but SNES handled a lot more colors and had some other tricks to render things sharper. Genesis did quite well with the limitations that it had. Still, I liked the Genesis controller far better than the SNES's, and there were plenty of good games on it. I played the hell out of the aforementioned TJ&E, the Sonic games, Herzog Zwei, Road Rash I and II, Outlander, NFL Sports Talk '93, the Shining Force games, OutRunners, and General Chaos.

Goldeneye has held up as well as any other ten year-old game. Glass-shattering shootouts in Archive and Mexican standoffs in facility were still awesome last time I played. The only shame is that you can't wield twin pistols in multiplayer, although the frame rate is probably better for it.

Also I was a big fan of the Strike series (Desert/Jungle/Urban/Soviet/Nuclear). Those were pretty fun.

Re: Anyone play their older consoles?
When they went first did Road Rash with polygons, it sucked balls. It just wasn't sophisticated enough to control well, and it looked ugly as shit. If they revisited it with today's technology, I bet it would do very well. The sprite-based games were fantastic.
I never got into the Strike games, but they did have a game called LHX Attack Chopper that was a hell of a fun game.
