2011 Boxster to have a Flat 4 Turbo?
http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=10&article_id=7382
Apparently Porsche is going to (a) Reduce the Price (b) Reduce the Weight signficantly (c) Reduce the Horsepower (increase the fuel economy) and (d) keep performance where it's at.
You know, I have to admit. I like this line of thinking. The Boxster S will apparently keep a 6 Cyl.

Weight reduction is where it's at man.
Sounds like a winner to me.

yeah, exactly. Mazda (with their Miata) and Lotus have always had the right idea. Light weight + lower horsepower = fun + low(er) fuel consumption. The article suggested that purists are going to get up in arms over this - but I don't really see how. The 914 had a flat four as it's standard engine... as did the 912 if I recall correctly. If anything I'd even like to see them get rid of the turbo on the 4 cyl.
170 hp Porsche Boxster weighing in at, say, 2100 lbs or so. Fuck yeah. Who cares if straightline performance is hurt. That would be a sweet car.

Porsche styling just doesn't grab me anymore. I fondly remember the days when not every Porsche had to look like a 911.

I have to admit. I prefer the look of the past generation Boxster to the newer version. So elegant. If I was buying a used one it'd be one of those.

370Z or bust

half the price, twice the car, and now with an acceptably nice interior (no really!) we just got one in here and its a pretty darn nice car, even if the front leaves me a bit iffy...its better in black thats for sure..plus it now has the revmatch downshift feature..purdy neat

It's definitely a nice option. I like it better than the 350Z. Smaller, tighter styling, better interior.
I'd still rather a Camaro, but the 370Z is pretty good too.

The 370 does look pretty nice.
Of course the idea of a perfectly handling Porsche with exceptional fuel economy.... damn.

Honestly, I still think the Miata is the best way to go, period.
Once I pay off the Civic I might try to find a used one. Hopefully by then I'll have room for a second car.

I'm going to have kids. But we'll have a practical car as well. Sedan of some sort.

yeah, the 370 is badass. as long as you live somewhere that rust isn't a concern, it's a great car.
