Re: Fallout 3
So, I felt really proud of myself doing the "Nuka-Cola Challenge" mission.
I don't know...*I* felt smart for once in a long time for figuring something out.
Speaking of Nuka-Cola, I've been drinking enough Mexicoke that I could probably use the bottlecaps on my kitchen counter to buy a nearly-broken Chinese pistol.
- Spoiler:
- You of course have to find those bottles of Nuka-Cola Quantum. At the bottling plant, there's a shipping manifest that tells you a shipment was delivered to Paradise Falls and Old Olney. I went to Old Olney and scoured the place. Couldn't find shit for Quantum...found one stinking bottle down in the sewers. But then I thought, wait...it was delivered. That means it was on a truck. And looking at the old road network on the map it would have to have come in from...over there! And sure enough, I found the Nuka-Cola truck southeast of town in a road leading to it in about the exact spot I figured it would be.

I just finished that up a half-hour ago and got it. Its stats are impressive when it's in its original pristine condition, but I'm afraid to use it because the rarity of it makes me think it'll be impossible to repair it myself. I'd have to depend on shopkeepers with their shitty repair level, and once it gets some wear on it, it won't be effective enough to keep around.
Re: Fallout 3
actually, the caravaners have the highest repair ratings. crow and the weapons guy. awesome dudes. the eyebot helmet is sweet.

also, i did that mission and did not find the gun. i will have to go back into that hell hole i guess. i used the ghoul mask and they all left me alone.
i do have the railway rifle though. it's great. use the dartgun which instantly cripples your enemy's legs, and then railway their heads. win!

- You remember where you went up the staircase and found the picture of the Lincoln Memorial? It's on that same level where the picture was...there's a room behind where it was hanging with a display case, and the repeater is in there.

I'll have to check again I guess, because I seem to remember that all of the caravan merchants had a repair skill in the teens, while Moira's is 24 or so.

I thought that might be the case...I hadn't gotten around to trying it yet.
Re: Fallout 3
Yeah I actually never pay for repairs anymore. I basically only use the repeater and the hunting rifle anyway and supermutants drop rifles like crazy.

Re: Fallout 3
Well, I just beat the game.
Just for everyone's information...when Fallout 1 and 2 ended, that was it...the game was over and you couldn't search around anymore. Fallout 3 is exactly the same...once the story ends, the game is over, and you won't be able to explore what you missed, so be sure to keep a save game before ending the story.

Had you gone to Canterbury Commons and paid them to upgrade their stuff? I heard that doing so is what really ups the caravan repair skills. Since I didn't do that, that may be why they suck for me.

Re: Fallout 3
Yeah, it's on the PC. I understand they'll also be releasing a kind of toolkit that will let you create your own maps. If it's robust enough, I might snag the PC version too.
Re: Fallout 3
i need to get off my ass and start buying components for a pc.
that new intel i7 chip is ridiculous. they put the i7 920 in a $1k dell, and it raped a $3k alienware gaming rig. i think if i pair that with an ati 4850 or 4870, i'll be set for any game for at least a few years.

Dogmeat's default waiting point is just outside the Vault 101 entrance. If you leave him in one place too long, he usually automatically goes there. You might check to see if he's there.
Though Dogmeat is kind of a pain in the ass. Oh look 3 giant radscorpions and a deathclaw! (lunges into battle, dies)

I've never taken that perk in any of the FO games. I might do that one on my next run-through of FO3.
