Re: Fallout 3
Really? I was apprehensive about buying this game but I went ahead and bought it for pc and played it until 3am that day. It's awesome because you can really do whatever you want more or less. Quests can be something like go ask this guy a question and you can crater his skull with a baseball bat and steal all his shit if you'd like. There is a system that tracks how bad you are and i am completely all the way evil. I was good for the beginning of the game but got tired of people asking for money for things.

Re: Fallout 3
I think its kinda disappointing, not nearly as disappointing as Far Cry 2, but disappointing nevertheless.
It has less "feeling" than FO2..maybe thats just because bioshock and dead space have just ripped the genre apart

Re: Fallout 3
Storm has been playing it and it looks pretty cool. I thought the whole beginning part of the game, where you're introduced to the controls and life in Vault 101, was neat and you're going through the different ages.

I think this game rapes bioshock in the anoose. I haven't played deadspace but I have heard good things about it. I really think fallout nails the atmosphere.

I'm kinda biased, 3rd person games are not my thing to begin with, nor are survival games..bioshock kinda grabbed me though cause I really got into the story..dead space just has enough really fucking cool stuff in it to keep me entertained..fallout seems kinda like havnt we been here before?
Re: Fallout 3
umm fallout is first person, if you are playing in 3rd person you are playing it wrong.

Fallout 3 has a pretty damn good story so far. There's been several things happen in the first several hours of gameplay that have been pretty mysterious and a couple of real unexpected moments. Fallout's so huge that the story is going to take a while to totally build up.
And IMHO, I think they've done a fantastic job of bringing the Fallout games to the first-person 3D genre. The general feeling of the game is very well preserved, and as someone who was afraid that the new developer might fuck up the game, so far Bethesda hasn't disappointed me at all.

That was a really cool way to go through character creation and getting familiarized with the controls. And that first moment you're standing outside of the vault on the hilltop, and everything's laid out below you...I got chills.

Is Deadspace any good? It looked a bit repetitive...

Yeah the story is kinda thin, theres not much creativity as far as that goes, but there is so much stuff to play around with, interesting ways to get kills makes it worth renting

I was actually completely oblivious to the fire ants. I did find a quest an hour ago (18 hours into the game) that indicated that fire ants would be a-comin', but I hadn't seen or heard about them yet
Re: Fallout 3
my brother just bought little big planet for ps3, and hates it. hes gonna return it and if they only give us store credit im gonna see if he wants to get fallout 3. good game? recommend it? it got a 9.6 on ign but then again gears of war got like a 9.7 and little big world got like a 9.5, so you cant always rely on the ratings alone. fallout 3, should or should not honor get it?

Re: Fallout 3
I only played a little of Bioshock (didn't like it....I was expecting something much deeper considering it was a System Shock 2 successor), and I don't think it's like that game at all. This game is a true RPG, with inventory management, character development, etc. It's far more wide open in terms of not just the playfield, but also the decisions you make and how you approach each situation.
I'll try not to spoil anything, but I had a situation where a group of people were causing trouble, and they looked by all rights to be bad guys, but then I met with them and found out they were fucked up but not totally bad, and a diplomatic solution could be worked out. It was going great up until one big sticking point and I found myself preparing for a big firefight in which I would be highly outnumbered, but then suddenly it worked out again, no one had to die and everything worked out great for everyone. And as I'm walking away, I'm thinking, I almost wish a fight had broken out because if I'd managed to do half-decently, I could have fled with some great stuff. Though I could just turn around, go back and start killing people anyway.....hmmmm.........naaah.
So you get a lot of different choices to make and ways to approach the game.

Re: Fallout 3
hey, vs and/or jayson and/or dodge, what kind of system specs are you running?
i may have to buy a new comp now that my laptop monitor is flaking out, and if i'm going to get some shit, i want a desktop and the ability to play some games like call of duty, elder scrolls type shit, etc.
also, i can still use my old firm's discount with dell, so i'll probably be getting a dell, rather than building my own.

Well, my computer's a few years old but it's been upgraded some. The processor is still original...2.2 Gig equivalent Athlon 64 3400+. I've got around 1.5 Gigs of RAM now and a 512 MB nVidia-chipset graphics card. It plays newer games pretty well, though it's starting to show its age a bit. I've been looking to drop another gig of RAM into it, though it's going to soon get to the point where the processor is going limit what it can do.
Re: Fallout 3
word. i'm thinking i'd have to price something with at least 4g of memory. think i'll only look at single 512 video cards. all those $460 nvidia shits is too crazy for me.

Re: Fallout 3
ive given up on pc gaming besides certain game types like civilization or age of empires 3 or other strategy games where theres too many buttons and functions for a console controller. pcs are just too expensive and the technology moves too fast. you have to update like every year if you want to play the latest games without unbearably bad frame rates. crysis is a perfect example. awesome game from what i hear, but id need a ridiculous system to play it on. fuck that man, for the most part ill just stick with my 3 consoles and the games that are designed with that exact system in mind, no worries.
btw i have a dual core P4 3ghz, 2g ram, and a single geforce 6800gt. so it can play a good amount of games, but its far from cutting edge. and if i ever do decide to build or buy a gaming rig in the future, its gonna have a amd processor. no more pentiums.

Athlon 3700+, 4gb of ram, ati 4850 512mb. the video card is new, i got it for $150. The rest of my computer is 2 years old. I run the game on almost all high settings at 1650x1080 or whatever the fuck my resolution is, with no problems.

meh. it's not all it's cracked up to be, because if you make a good trade at the beginning of the month, and a bad trade at the end, you're break even, which is the same as having done nothing. then you start the next month with less then the previous month (after paying bills), which makes it harder to make the same amount the following month. it's too much of a hassle, really. regular work is boring, but it's better.

- When you get the quest, you get three different places on your map to investigate. Have you checked them all out?
Re: Fallout 3
I must say, I have barely progressed through the main quest. I am just exploring shit and trying to find cool stuff. I am killing supermutants and just got a minigun. I like just exploring the waste at this point.

Yeah, same here. I'd heard about nasty stuff down in DC proper where the main quest is headed to next, so I've been kind of staying away from it until I've built myself up. So I'm probably going to head down there next.
