Hows it fucking going? has anyone talked to raska recently. I think he still has my DH bike. Anyway. Cold Lake still sucks. The project is getting super fucking close to derailment. Our Structural Steel contractor is totally not tuned into the project and we are paying the price. Fuck me, winter is fucking here in 2 weeks and we don't even have a roof on the place yet.

I did ask to renegotiate my salary though, both bosses seemed receptive.

This thread sucks almost as much as your life.

Ya. I know. My family and girlfriend are worried about me. They all tell me to not work so hard. And its not like I even get paid for working OT. I am straight salary. But the project is so fucked if I don't put the hours in I get even more stressed out. Plus, its not like there is anything to do in Cold Lake, and the more/harder I work the more I get to do, thus the more I get to learn.

But it definitely takes its toll on the moral.
Wanna hear the funny part though. The money isn't the thing keeping me here. The only thing that keeps me from quitting, is the fact that I hate quitters.

Yeah, I always say it could be worse but does that ever really make you feel any better. Right now I'm not very happy and I gave up weed until I find a new job because of drug tests and such. I am not nearly as calm without it.

It's not your problem if the project goes under (other than being left unemployed). Take their money, do as little work as possible and relax the rest of the time. It's the Dunnas way.

I've been to Cool Pool a couple of times, in the summer though. Last winter watching the doc 'JetStream' about the making of Canadian CF-18 fighter pilots it was kinda cool seeing CFB Cold Lake on the tube, but yeah the winters look a bit cold. Ah what the Hell I like cold Canadian winters.

Fortunately the planet is quite resilient. No matter what McCain / Palin do there'll be Grizzly Bears and Wolves around long after they've surrendered to the void of nonexistence.

Well I'm throwing my lot in with the Bears and Wolves, hopefully there's some degree of Karmic justice when all is said and done. If they get elected it's going to suck. hard. and long. But I'll bury myself in my work, in the natural world, in education, in the knowledge that there are things out there so full of life, and beauty that they make Cheney's evil little smirk, W's withered and blacked heart, McCain's willingness to sell out, and Palin's utter lack of ethics seem insignificant. Transitory. Almost funny in a pathetic sort of way.

Oh ok, are you behind schedule? Or are costs going above budget? Or is the project just being run by guys who don't know what they are doing? Sorry if I'm out of step with all the details or if they have been discussed here already. Are you looking at getting it done before the cold sets in much?
