Totally nuts. A fitting end to Bush's presidency (even though I know how much can be blamed on him alone is negligable).

The DJIA is off a total of something like 35% from its high. That's just silly. There's a rough time coming, but the market is acting like no company has any worth anymore. It's not that bad.
Unless stupid actions on the part of governments and markets make it that way.

Time to buy the pick up truck, a small armory of weapons, couple thousands tin cans of food and head out into the wilderness. It's time to closer her up boys.

every day is another tick on my personal doomsday clock.

runs on the mutual funds. that's why the market is tanking. everyone wants out, but the mutual funds have more net worth than there is cash in existence. (well, they DID)

big sellers + no buyers = pain.

there's still a lot of money out there, but it's flooding to treasuries, which presents a whole other problem: what happens of the market bottoms out and they flee treasuries en mass? another problem.

I mean the economy is still going to function. I"m still going to get up in the morning and buy a coffee, purchase groceries, get my hair cut, drive my car, masturbate furiously thereby ruining 3 pairs of underwear and having to buy more.... So are billions of other people around the world.

only when the panic subsides. right now, the people with the most money want out.

nothing goes straight down, however, so i would expect a mercy bounce at some point. it will probably be fast and vicious. maybe 1000 pts up in a day.

Oh thank god. I love how you know intuitively what I was really getting at without me having to say it. A world without lattes is not a world I want to be a part of.

I use socks for my kill rags, when they get crusty enough to stand in the corner I'll throw them to my dogs as chew toys.

ALso, Aris. I've yet to see one businessman fling himself from his 20th story window. Frankly I'm annoyed.

just waiting for the bounce. i think i'm going to try and play AAPL and maybe BAC or JPM.
