New Vehicle Options
I know I have bombarded you guys of my woes of wanting a new vehicle. I probably won't get a vehicle for a couple of years, mainly because the wife and I need to get a house within the next year. I really want a truck and I know that gas prices suck ass, but I've wanted a truck since I was in high school. I do haul stuff a lot (stuff that requires a pickup) , I need something to tow with and I've had to do this with other peoples' trucks, which sucks because you have to work on their schedule.
I have to take a few things into consideration. I drive a work van provided by my job to and from work, so I barely drive my personal vehicle (I've only put 3000 miles on my Cherokee in the two years I've owned it) so gas isn't a big problem. HOWEVER, the rumor at work is that we are going to be building a new facility (which won't be for about 2 years) because we expanded our region of work and are hiring new people. So, I don't want to buy a truck and drive it 80 mile round trip 4 days a week. So I may end up getting something small in the long run.
The truck I found is a Fire Red GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Crew Cab. It has 5.3L FlexFuel V8 (315 hp, 338 ft-lbs tq) w/ Active Fuel Management, 2WD w/ 3.42 LSD and Trailering Package, 6,600 lb towing capacity, fully loaded tan leather interior. EPA rating of 14 city/ 20 hwy.
This is the actual truck here: LeBeau GMC
I know not all of you are about getting a truck or want anything to do with a truck, but I just want some feedback. I think the GMC Sierra is one of the only trucks that still looks like a truck.

But I live in the country, and my drive to work contains 2 miles of driving into the city, so I'll be seeing more of the highway mileage.

Re: New Vehicle Options
Even the 20 mpg highway would give me pause. But if you're willing to accept that, I say why not. Especially if you need the truck.
I was about to recommend a Toyota Tacoma, but with a V6 it gets about the same mileage. I don't think you'll find much better - as long as you need the power of a V6 / V8

Re: New Vehicle Options
20 mpg is about the only thing making me want that, otherwise I'd say nevermind and look for a car. And that's actually really good for a 315 hp V8 in a full size pickup. That active fuel management is a great thing across the board of cars and trucks.
Realize that I have a 2003 Durango with a 5.9L V8 with only 250 hp and it gets 17 hwy

I like the Silverado, but I like the Sierra better. I have two friends that have 2007 Silverados, so I want to be different.
