NASCAR to go to Mid-Ohio
So looks like NASCAR is going to go to Mid-Ohio next year!
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nascar-adds-mid-ohio-nationwide-163336664--nascar.html
What sucks is I already know I can't go because I have something going on that particular weekend. Fuck. Seeing those stock cars fly around Mid-Ohio would be tits... there are going to be so many crashes! I hope they come back in 2014.

Re: NASCAR to go to Mid-Ohio
Just to see a major race series come to a local track that's never been... its exciting.
I keep meaning to catch a Nationwide race at RA, since I was just as jazzed when they started coming here, but I never went.
Hell, never went to see them at the Milwaukee Mile, either. Too expensive.

Exactly, especially a road course. I wouldn't go if it was an oval track, but to see them all on a road course would be sweet.

NASCAR is quite a spectacle on the Road Courses. They have no problem beating the shit out of each other. The racing is some of the best you'll see.
Mid-Ohio is not as huge as the other Road Courses that NASCAR runs on, but its an awesome one none the less. I spent a lot of time there during college, so I will be looking forward to this.

Talon used to be part of our nascar fantasy league iirc
Also lots of rumors about the trucks going to eldora next year...more road courses and maybe dirt tracks? about time nascar got away from cookie cutters.

Daytona. Indy. the only two oval course races that matter.
the rest should be road courses. It would make Nascar a lot more interesting. I might actually start watching it again if they did that.

Indy is boring. Replace it with Bristol and you got a deal.

Yea, I think I was. That was a long time ago, haha. I did like watching it, but after a year or two I got bored with it.
Regardless, seeing 43, 800 hp cars with drivers that aren’t used to road courses and aren’t afraid to smash into each other go around a fairly technical, relatively short track would be entertaining.
They seem to do pretty well at the Glenn, but I don’t think that’s as technical as Mid-Ohio. I wouldn’t be surprised if half the cars didn’t finish…

You gotta think too, that's going to definitely make the teams work hard to get the cars set up correctly.
Also, is the pit road long enough to support 43 cars? It probably is, I just haven't been there in 10 years.

Re: NASCAR to go to Mid-Ohio
They've been going to road america the past few years, which is a pretty technical high speed track, there is a lot of wrecks, but always great racing.
Re: NASCAR to go to Mid-Ohio
Hmm, didn't know that. I guess I thought they were still Infinion and WG.

Only nationwide...they've been experimenting with new tracks with them...road america, montreal, i hear trois riveries (SP) and mosport are on the possibility list for 2014
Re: NASCAR to go to Mid-Ohio
Oh, wait, Nationwide is like the minor leagues... I didn't realize that. Well, I am not as disappointed, but I would have still gone.

Re: NASCAR to go to Mid-Ohio
Minor leagues, but the action is better since more rookies + cheaper equipment + less media = more fuckery
Re: NASCAR to go to Mid-Ohio
well I think Daytona's boring. but Daytona and the Brickyard are the classics. They can use the road course at Indy (and Daytona too, even) to make it less boring.Benfolio wrote:Turbojett wrote:Daytona. Indy. the only two oval course races that matter.

The only oval I really like is Talladega. With no restrictor plates.

Re: NASCAR to go to Mid-Ohio
They don't run them like they used to. They are much larger, cars are turning close to 9000rpm at the super speedways again, they just made the bodies draggier, and feel its safe enough from liftoff to do 200ish again.
