Rainy Day at Mid-Ohio
Another Mid-Ohio weekend. Rained basically all day Saturday which made things interesting. I was able to pass a Z06 on the straights. That kind of interesting....
Yadda yadda yadda, blah blah blah.

Have you ever come close to crashing?

Re: Rainy Day at Mid-Ohio
Depends on what you mean by crash, but, yes, and handful of times… some my fault, some not. Lemme think:

During the Mid-Ohio driving schools (their RSXS):
Went into turn one going too fast for my skill level, right next to another car. Let off the gas, rear got light and came around. Corrected which just pushed be around the other way. Did a 360 and flew off the track. To this day I don’t know how I didn’t hit the other car.
Going backwards around the track (we were broken up into three groups, in three sections of the course… go forward at speed, then slowly backwards to do that section over) through turn 11 and I wasn’t going slowly back like we were supposed to. Spun the car and skidded to a stop sideways on the track. They told us to go slow because the track isn’t designed to accept a crash going CCW. Woops.
Going through turn 11 the correct way I came out of thunder valley way too fast. I couldn’t give it anymore steering input and I didn’t want to tap the brakes (ass end would have gotten loose… again) so the car just tracked out and onto the grass.
In the Eclipse:
Racing a buddy in his 350Z. I passed him but couldn’t ditch him. Going through the bus-stop (right before the keyhole that is rarely open) I could always gain some ground on him, but this lap for some reason the car got upset and the back end came out. I corrected but the car skided 90* right in the middle of the track until I came to a stop. The 350Z was really close behind me and I was braced for impact. I thought for sure he was going to hit me. Fortunately, he was able to bail and ended up in the infield. I was able to keep going and he got stuck hahaha.
Evo:
Lost the brakes and had to ditch the car into China Beach at the end of the long straight. I hypothesize was going ~80 when I left the track and ended up ~20 feet from the wall. I’ve told that story before.
My RSXS:
Spun it ~75* while going under the Honda bridge (turn 8 )in the wet. No biggie.
The Corvette that spun right in front of me going around the carousel (turn 12). I guess we were about 8-10’ apart at one point. I posted that video.
