The configurator is online finally: http://www.dodge.com/hostc/models/CUD201319/bmo/selectModel.do

It gets pricey in a hurry, but I do like the option layout.

Fucking finally!

Edit: I hate hate hate hate hate Chrysler's Build & Price layout. Its a pain in a dick to go over options. They need to fire the people that design their websites.

Denim Seats? What is this? AMC???

$22,770

Rallye in Bright White with the 1.4L Turbo with 6-speed manual. Premium audio group and popular equipment group.

Not bad. It's pretty loaded. I think I would want a sunroof. I like having one. I didn't add it though.

$21,375 - SXT with the same options you've got.
$22,570 - Rallye with those options plus Hyper Black wheels.

The SXT would be just fine, though I really like the Rallye's interior. Might be worth the extra coin.

One thing I find interesting is that to start off, it makes you tick a "FWD" box, though there's no other option. Makes me wonder if AWD might be on the horizon, possibly for the SRT model.

^^let's hope so. Even for the Rallye or Limited, possibly.

I think I did pretty good:
2013 DART RALLYE FWD
Dodge Dart - Page 2 Images11
Pitch Black exterior (though I would like the grille crosshair surrounds to be red, please)
Black/Ruby Red interior
17" Hyper Black wheels (why doesn't this show in the picture?)
1.4L Turbo, 6M
the wheels and the engine were the only options. I'm pretty simplistic about that sort of thing, I only get what I need.

Base MSRP: $18995
+ options:----1695
+dest.:--------795
Total:------$21485

I wonder why they don't just make the 1.4 Turbo the base engine. It's got better fuel economy, more torque, and it would seem to me that if all of the cars had this engine, it would likely amortize the cost to the point where it doesn't hurt the base price all that much. Instead of making it a $1,300 option, it might only add a percentage of that to the cost if applied to the whole product line and it would help the company's CAFE numbers.

I'm sure Chrysler/Fiat knows what they're doing there, but it seems a little odd to me. Maybe the engine is in short supply, but it seems like that's the one everyone wants when looking around car blogs and articles.

Some people don't like turbos.

I know Ford is doing well with it with their bread and butter cars/trucks/suvs, but there's a reason why Mazda killed off every turbocharged car they made except the Speed3, which isn't a mainstream car.

Add to that the questionable reliability of Fiat AND Chrysler together.....

On another board I'm on, there's a guy that works for Chrysler. He won't elaborate, but he's kind of hinted that there is and SRT version on the way.

He's apparently been driving the regular models around and he loves them. He made the comment that it's definitely not a the big brother of the Neon.

The Neon was an ok car for its vintage. Later model years were the best. But this Dart is on a very competent Alfa Romeo "Juliet" platform. Road & Track noted in a recent issue that an SRT is on its way with likely well over 200 hp.

Honestly, if Chrysler still has ties with Mitsubishi, they should be trying to get the AWD technology from the EVO for the SRT Dart.

both Chrysler and Fiat (by way of Alfa Romeo) have built awd vehicles: AWD is available on LX platforms, as well as was available on the Caliber RT (but why not the SRT4 is beyond me), and Alfa has the Brera which is plenty capable itself.

Pastrana was going to run his Dart in the X-Games Rallycross, and got his shit wrecked in the first turn on his first heat after being 2nd fastest in practice. I guess they're trying to get him into his teammate's car.

The Ford dealer in town bought out the Chrysler dealer sometime in the late 90's. But because the family business was a Ford franchise decades before that, they kinda treat their Chrysler stuff like the red-headed stepchild (but they admittedly have little space...far too little space to operate both IMHO). They have two big gleaming Ford-themed buildings and then a tiny little Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram sign off to the side. I imagine they got pissed off every time Chrysler changed shit around because they had to change the sign...take off the Eagle thing...now take off the Plymouth thing...now add the Ram thing...

No, not the dart.

That is a reference for Swerve if he happens to ever drop by this thread. Or maybe Ascona because it seems he's half Aussie these days.

Edit: Crap, I knew I was replying to old threads, but I didn't realise any of them were this old.
