Auto parts/wiper question...
So I went looking for wiper blades today, and none of the stores are carrying Anco wipers any more. I used Ancos because I always have a shitty time getting other wiper brands to fit my car's J-hooks, though I finally found a set of Boschs that went on reasonably okay.
Does anyone know what might be going on with Anco? I know Federal-Mogul emerged from bankruptcy a long while back, but my Google-Fu isn't coming with a good reason why stores would stop carrying them. Did FM just decide, fuck it we're not selling wipers anymore?

Re: Auto parts/wiper question...
Most store branded wipers are Anco made. They just resell them in their own packaging.
Pretty sure the Mazda Value blades I get at work are Anco, and I'd bet half the cheapies are Napa and Carquest are too.
That said I've been using beam blades for a while, but the kind I can refill so I don't have to waste $$$ on the whole thing. Instead I can slap in a $3-$4 rubber insert.

I swear I've seen ANCO lately. Maybe Walmart?

Yeah, I stopped using refills, because I keep breaking the damn things trying to change them.
I once bought some cheapies from AutoZone, and they were terrible. I went to 4 different stores today, and none of them were carrying Ancos. One guy even told me, "Anco's goin' outta business," and I'm thinking, "Uh...whatever."
Re: Auto parts/wiper question...
Last time I tried one of those frameless wipers, it didn't put enough pressure on the spot where the actual hook was, so the center of the wiper didn't wipe. Of course, it was different brand, so maybe those would work better.
