Chamonix 550 Spyder or Lotus Elise?

Only reason for this poll is I saw a 550 on the road yesterday and it looked awesome. My girlfriend hates Porsche but she loved this one. The ones sold in Australia are powered by the Subaru 2.5l and weigh 720kg, so the power to weight is similar to the 911. They cost $70,000, which sounds like a lot of money. But it's pretty good considering the Toyota-powered Elise starts at $100,000 here.

I need pics of this 550 to make my decision.

I think it's pretty hard to beat the Elise. But that price and power difference is pretty silly. Hrmm.

The Chamonix replica is the Beck one - that company was taken over. The Australian model looks the same, apart from possibly the rollover hoops - don't know if they're required in other countries.

There is a company called JPS Motorsports here in the US that builds 356 coupe and speedster replicas. You can buy a turn key car from them for I think $25k. They also build it to your specs so if you want certain interiors, brakes, engines, etc. They also put on all the original Porsche emblems and trim if you want.

Cars are a rip off here. What does the Elise cost in the US - 40 grand?
