Re: Designs you were wrong about
I think the MX-6 looks better than the Probe.
back in middle school, my best friend's big brother had a 2nd-gen Probe GT with a 5-speed, like right when they first came out, and we thought it was the coolest thing.

If those Probes/MX-6s had been rear-wheel drive they'd be fucking collectible now. And they would have buried the Mustang (well, probably just have taken the name really)...

i remember when the bmw 6 series came out i thought it was ugly, but i never thought it would actually be quite as hideous as it looks now

Yeah if you are a car guy and you don't like the way this looks, you need to be smacked like a little bitch.

It's not that good looking. Especially with the massive US bumper.

That 6-series i think is better looking than the one that just finished production. Classic BMW proportions. It's pretty; uselessly oversized bumper notwithsanding.

Speaking of old school Mazdas, I almost bought an MX-3 V6 back when I was in HS. The V6 was 1.8L... little guy. It was too much $ for me though.

a 1.8L V6?
the pistons must be the size of bottle caps.

Mazda used to make some interesting shit and would play around with all sorts of engine designs. With the exception of the Rotary, they have pretty much blended in with everyone else.
I mean does anyone even remember the Miller Cycle engines in the Mazda Millenia? For christs sake they were a 2.5L 210hp Supercharged V6.

A supercharged engine with a 10:1 combustion ratio?

Actually I meant 2.3L, but yes, 10:1 combustion ratio on a forced induction engine pushing 14 psi, It also had two intercoolers, one for each cylinder bank.

Re: Designs you were wrong about
My brother had a Miller Cycle Mazda (Eunos 800 here) and my high school physics teacher had a 30X. Mazda spent a fortune building innovative cars that didn't sell as well as they deserved and now cost too much as used cars to maintain.
I really like the Mazda Astina Hardtop from the mid-90s. Much nicer than the conservative designs after the Ford buyout and before the 3 and 6.
