dunnas wrote:Yes, but as I continue to say, why is something like that being easier necessarily better? Touch screens are becoming more common these days. Perhaps in a couple of years they should make FPS so you just have to touch the screen on the enemy. The technology is there, so clearly not using it would be fucking stupid. Anything that makes hitting your target easier is clearly better, right.
Seriously, fuck PC gamers and their stupid fucking KB and mouse combo being more accurate routine. I hadn't thought of that touch screen comparison before but it's fucking perfect as far as i'm concerned. The fact of the matter is that the COD games for one control absolutely perfectly with a controller, and that is all that matters. No matter what the PC gamers say, the KB & Mouse combo is far less comfy than a controller, even if you're still sitting at your computer desk (like I am) and not on the couch like so many console gamers use as an argument for consoles.
frustrating ≠ harder
mouse and keyboard = natural feeling
controler = aggravatingly unnatural

"Our gamers are telling us there's lots of services and innovation they would like to see that they're not getting yet. From what we see so far, additional content, as well as all the services Blizzard is offering, is that there is demand from the core gamers to pay up for that," Tipple explained.
lol, yeah ok. i dont remember the last time i demanded to pay for anything.

So I downloaded MW2 and I must say the singleplayer is really not fun. It's just more of the super scripted meatgrinder bullshit the series is famous for. Enemies spawning infinitely, spawning behind you in areas you cleared already....fucking stupid. Your teammates are fucking useless, there are miniguns on humvees and it takes like a 10 second burst to kill 1 guy when it would have turned him into mist. How is everyone saying the singleplayer is so mindblowingly awesome? Every level goes like this:
Voice on the radio: Ok, there is a group of enemies somewhat close in number to the population of Bangladesh in this town. I need 2 or 3 people to go massacre them all.
Guy next to me: Ok you heard the man, but you go in first...I'll dawdle back here and then walk in after you've slain about 50 of them, then i'll make you go somewhere else by yourself.
*Murder of stereotypical ethnic combatants ensues*
Guy on the radio: Good job, we just got some intel that there are 6 billion more enemies one town over, You did such a good job I'm going to let you murder them all. Unfortunately it will take a thinly veiled "MORAL DILEMMA". Here is a gun that can only kill friendlies, but whenever you do that, it saves 2 puppies.
Fuck this stupid game.

I haven't found that to be the case with the x360 version - in fact its been quite the opposite. You defend a position for x amount of time then you can move forward.
Not sure if the pc version differs but i find the 1 player quite different as I pretty much hated world at war.

Does anyone else hate the amount of camping in this game? It seems a lot worse than in the first one and it drives me fucking nuts. Now that people are getting to know the stages and settling in it seems like if you play anything but mercenary people just camp nonstop. I don't really see how camping so much is fun at all.
I've always been more of a run and gunner and I enjoy that tactic a lot more but I'm going to have to stop doing it because of all these fucking campers.

This is actually the first COD game that doesn't use infinite spawning enemies (well at least from 2 onwards, never played COD1). Sometimes you may get a couple appear in a place behind or beside you that you thought was clear but they're certainly not infinite.VS wrote:So I downloaded MW2 and I must say the singleplayer is really not fun. As for your squad mates not doing much and the number of enemies, i take it your ideal game would involve a half dozen bad guys a level who all start off spawned in full view, squad mates that shoot as accurate as the enemy and therefore have killed all 6 enemies within the first 2 seconds, and then skipping through the rest of the level all holding hands and eating cotton candy from the local fair.
I've never been a huge fan of the COD campaigns, but those are some peculiar complaints. Squad mates in COD games have always been rather useless at killing people so that they don't make the game too easy.

Re: looks like i'll be playing ***** * MASS: WE PRAY
I have found the same thing on the PS3 about guys seeming to spaw forever. I think it was the third mission where you run through the slums and end up on the roof running for the chopper at the end...
I died so many times on that mission because I would kill guys on the roof while being shot from guys far away, so I'd then start killing the guys far away and I'd be getting wasted by more guys that just show up on the roof. I was getting so frustrated I eventually just started running and shooting to get through the mission... if I stood still for two seconds I would be getting hit from all angles.

Yea, faggots. 90% of the time I die I get shot in the back after coming around a corner. Sucks because people like myself, who can't play for 16 hours a day, get royally screwed in online. I played a little bit yesterday and finally got a good k:d ratio, went like 12:6 or something. The reason is because I killed a guy and got his M16 w/ heartbeat sensor, grenade launcher, and that heat-sensor scope or whatever it is. It was so easy to find and kill people. I got the Predator bomb and killed more people. Eventually I died and I got my HK UMP and revolver back. Gee, how fair is that? So it's the people who know the maps the best and practice the most also get the best weapons...? It's very frustrating and discourages people like me to play. I finally got the M4A1 with grenade launcher and still have the iron sights, so at least I can be a little competitive but it's still frustrating when people on the other team know where I am and have an ACOG on their SCAR or something.
PS - I want a SCAR in real life.

Yeah dude, the SCAR is badass. I use it the most. I think I may completely stop using submachine guns. They've made them almost completely useless in this game. In modern warfare there were at least some stages where it made sense to use them but that's not really the case in this game.

They should have seperate classes in that game, where if you're a n00b with shitty weapons you fight other n00bs with shitty weapons, and as you move up you fight other guys that have good weapons. I am now convinced that the weapons are 98% of how 'good' one is.
Oh, and I've seen SCARs at gun shows. You can buy them... asking price is about $3000

I would agree with this. I got MW1 like 6 months after everyone else, then started online probably 3 months after that, so when I started online, my k/d ratio was horrible. It seemed like I could not get any better until my brother came over one night and we played all night just to get my ranking up to get better weapons. I felt that they needed to stick you in with people within the same ranking and I imagine with the millions of people playing, there are enough people to stick in the same rank.
BTW, I haven't played MW2 yet......

That's kind of what I did. I was getting wasted so bad in team deathmatch (1:2 ratio) that I just went to the free-for-all one where you kill anyone and everyone you see. Play that a few times and you're going to get a bunch of kills. I was able to upgrade my M4A1 that way.
I was the same way with MW1. I got online probably six months after it came out and just got wasted. It was no fun. I probably played like three times and that was it. :jay: It just doesn't make any sense. If it were a racing game you wouldn't have a competitive race where some guys have Enzos and others Fits...

Campers do suck, but I like playing capture the flag or domnation. In domnation I would capture the point then guard it while all the other assholes are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Call me a camper, but that I enjoyed.

i have all but 4 of the special ops finished on veteran. im trying to do "high explosive" right now, where you have to kill 10 juggernauts with only a grenade launcher, rpgs, and claymores/c4. its hard as shit. i can handle one at a time, but then soon they start chasing after you in waves of 2-3 and then youre pretty much fucked.

the other one "armor piercing" where you have to kill 15 jugs on the oil rig wasnt as bad, i just camped with the barret .50 rifle and blew them to hell as they ran around the corner one by one.

Have any of you pc fanboys actually played call of duty on a 360? I used to play the first one on pc and counterstrike and all that shit. If I had a 360 controller back then I'm pretty confident I would have mopped the floor with a lot of other players. I don't know what it's like to play on other consoles but the 360 controller is the best console controller ever created.

Explain to me how a keyboard and mouse are better. Every button on the controller performs the necessary function quickly and effectively. When was the last time you played modern warfare or modern warfare 2 on a 360? Have you ever? Until you've put in a decent amount of time on both pc and xbox you really can't comment.

It's not about buttons, it's about aiming. Accuracy, speed, ease of aiming are all higher with a mouse. Try to browse windows with an xbox controller and tell me you could do it just as fast as with a mouse. Same concept.

I dunno if I'd say browsing windows is the same as aiming in an fps. The triggers and two sticks do a hell of a job making me pretty damn accurate. Also, what about movement. I've definitely found that the two sticks work better for me than a mouse and 4 arrow keys. Have you actually tried any of these games with the controller I'm talking about? It's a lot easier than you're making it sound.

Re: looks like i'll be playing ***** * MASS: WE PRAY
while i agree the 360 controller is the best one, i dont agree that its more precise at movement and aiming than a mouse. for one thing with the controller you can only turn around so fast. with the mouse you can pretty much do it as fast as you can move your hand. same with aiming while zoomed in, with the controller you can only move to the left or right so fast as it will let you, with a mouse you really have no limit. i dont think it would be pretty if you played against people with any sort of talent using a controller while they used a mouse and keyboard. it would definitely be a handicap.
