Jesus. That poor dog. Why do people insist on treating dogs like little people. They aren't. They don't want to be dressed up in fucking bull-shit costumes, or be fed flavored bottled water, or do 'Doga'. They want to run around and chase things. Sniff things. Hunt things. Get dirty and generally ACT LIKE DOGS.

that looks more like bring your dog to yoga class because you cant let go of him/her. That doesn't look anything like a dog actually doing yoga.

+1 that dog looked like he was heavily sedated and would have rather have been anywhere else.
I liked how Martha kept saying this wouldn't work if you had a big dog. The yoga chick looked like she was getting flustered about those comments.

why is everyone focusing on the dog? yoga itself is just as ridiculous

All worthless. To be honest I'd seriously consider taking up yoga. But no time or money.
And I'm sure there's a ton of McYoga joints out there now too that are pretty much worthless.

wtf
Thing is miller looks down on yoga because he builds strenght, flexibility and endurance doing taekwondo. I tell you, he's been training on this awesome taekwondo school. Look at their blackbelts, I'm really impressed:

(1) Sarcasm. Also, if I don't now, that doesn't mean I shouldn't.
(2) I don't know. I suspect there's a basic level of instruction you need to have. Like martial arts I'd be surprised if you could learn much just from 2D pictures.
(3) I assume that there's a lot of places that capitalize on the current yoga 'fad' that don't teach it well. Just quickly and cheaply to as many people at once as possible.

Do you honestly think yoga is going to get your body into better shape than cardio and lifting weights?

It's not an either or proposition. You can do both. I think that there are some physical benefits that can be achieved by yoga and not by cardio, and I think that the reverse is also true.

i lift weights and run/bike on a regular basis. i recently started doing yoga because of how inflexible i actually am. yoga is suprisingly harder than i expected and is also a much better workout than i thought it would be

Re: How stupid can people be? Puppy yoga?!
To each his own I guess. I just couldn't see myself getting into yoga. To me it just seems like a lot of people that do yoga do only yoga. Given the amount of time people are usually willing to put into exercise, it's hard to believe most people would do cardio, weight training, and yoga all on a regular basis.

how many people do you know that do yoga? its really not that hard to do all 3 on a regular basis. shrek is in the police academy and does all 3 every week. another guy i work with who has 2 jobs manages to lift 6 days a week and do yoga, i dont think he does much cardio tho

Come to the gym with me and you'll see why i know this. Go to the gym with anyone who trains hard. I've done a few yoga/pilates classes and there is no comparison. I was stronger, fitter and more flexible than anyone else there.
Did you see Olympians attending yoga classes in the run up to Beijing?

Given the exercises done in yoga its quite easy to gauge relative strength. then there's the sheer size difference.
much as you are always desperate to disagree with any common opinion....just accept this one
and rod...yes i tried yoga and pilates so what? i was under the impression it was good for strength and flexibility. it was only after id done it i realised i could achieve the same results much more quickly if only id go into a real gym and put a little effort in

So you offer no real evidence, suggest consensus on the issue when there is none, tell me to just keep quiet and agree with you, and then offer yet another piece of anecdotal evidence. You're going to have to do better than that. I'm not beyond convincing, but you simply telling me to be convinced isn't going to do it.

Regardless of the benefits yoga just seems so fucking gay to me. How many times do you see yoga classes full of dudes? It also just seems like there are much better ways to develop strength and flexibility.

Ok....
Yoga strengthens your core. Explain to me how holding your legs up in the air is going to strengthen my core anymore than sit ups with a 20kg plate for example, or doing deadlifts with a 200kg bar?
Yoga is good for cardio. Explain how lying on the floor holding a few poses is going to get me fitter than cycling 10 miles, or swimming 60 lengths?
Yoga is good for stretching. Explain how a few basic stretching exercise are going to replace a combination of dynamic stretches pre-training and extreme stretches post-training.
If i really try, in the 1h30 it takes to do your average yoga class i can hit the weights HARD, cycle a good 5-10km and stretch vigorously.
That enough convincing?
I do quote like yoga for the relaxation element of it.....but its wayyyy inferior to a real workout.

Here's the thing. I don't care if you convince me or not. I don't look at it as being some honor that you're going to 'bother' providing to me. My opinion is just that - my opinion - and it's going to stay the way it is until I see something that convinces the logical, rational side of me that Yoga is worthless. If you have some facts (the more science / citations the better) then I'd love to see them. But your personal opinion isn't going to convince me of anything. If you want to leave it at that, fine.

Given the exercises done in yoga its quite easy to gauge relative strength. then there's the sheer size difference.
much as you are always desperate to disagree with any common opinion....just accept this one
and rod...yes i tried yoga and pilates so what? i was under the impression it was good for strength and flexibility. it was only after id done it i realised i could achieve the same results much more quickly if only id go into a real gym and put a little effort in
Dude I didn't mean to piss you off or something... chill out. It's only that pilates is like aerobics (in perception, girls do it).

If you want to leave it at that, fine.
if you dont care then why did you ask?
Pennzoil GT-R- It takes rue to make a thing go right (yeaah...RUUE!)
