I'm envious of aris' pathetic existence. I think the ability to drop everything and hate yourself out west is admirable.

I don't even think San Fransisco has THAT much stuff.

i'd move there, but the ex-wife is there, so the whole city is tainted now.

Cost of living is higher too. That city is bound to be leveled by an earthquake...your arrival would probably spur it on. You should probably move there.

good point.
seattle is also on a fault line, but i've had no luck so far.

Seattle and Vancouver are actually going to be fucked worse than SF too. Their fault decides to save up all it's shitty earthquakes for 300 years an then let loose. Down by SF it's been squeezing out earthquakes every couple of years.

Re: Does Aris have a job yet?
plus, SF construction is much more resistant to earthquakes now. modern engineering mitigates damage quite a bit.
seattle, too, has a lot of modern engineering that's earthquake resistant; however, if you google the 'alaskan way', which is a small highway that runs along the waterfront, you'll find that it probably wouldn't withstand 100mph winds, let alone an earthquake.

Re: Does Aris have a job yet?
Newer SF construction may be more resistant but you also have to think of all the buildings they rebuilt right after the giant quake in 1911 or whatever. Those buildings are sure to collapse again.

Re: Does Aris have a job yet?
Move to New Madrid, Missouri. It's shitty, depressing, and there's supposed to be an earthquake coming soon that's even more powerful than the California "Big One." And most of their buildings aren't designed to earthquake codes.

hmmm...this sounds promising.
