Hence my apathy towards this entire fucking shit show. Fucked economy, fucked government. My take on it all is to just keep doing what I am doing. Make some money, learn how to manage projects and ride this fucker out.
US military recruitment just had its strongest year in 4 years. typically in a bad economy people that are on the edge of stability join the army for the steady pay.
there is a colossal problem with the US economy right now. probably the biggest ever, after adjusting for inflation. the depression was bad, but most of that was caused by the government. this time around it was the people.

FUCK! Whatever.
Is there a particular reason you seem to support the party which has ZERO environmental or energy plans?
The Liberals have a shitty leader.
The NDP is against capitalism
The Green party cant run a country.
It seemed like a no brainer to me.
Not speaking great english does not equate to being a poor leader and don't be retarded in thinking any party is against capitalism. And the greens aren't even part of this and I'm not sure why you brought that up.
The important part is that Harper's environmental policies consist ONLY of carbon capture and storage which will increase our fuel needs by 15 to 40%. Read the plan yourself - google 'turning the corner' then tell me he's capable of looking past the next 6 months.

And even if environment isn't your bag, energy fucking should be. And carbon capture and storage does nothing but increase our energy needs by an unsustainable amount. You have to realize that we're eventually going to have to be a zero fuel economy and we can either pay now or pay forever.

The quicker we destroy the environment, the quicker humanity dies out and the environment can recover completely.911 wrote:millertime wrote:dunnas wrote:Fuck the environment.

You're no friend of the environment, you want to prolong its suffering.

Dude, his own party doesn't even think he is a good leader.
The NDP has an extremely skewed view on capitalism
I would vote green party before I voted for a separitist.
Honestly, environmental policy is low on my priority list.

environment is a global problem. I do try to do my part. If the conservatives have a good environmental policy, great. If not, thats not going to make me vote for parties who dont have the same view of economics as I do. Canada had quite a good regulation of our economy, we ran it well for the last few years. The Global economy fucked us. Do you really think that by having some great environmental policy in Canada it is really going to save us from the worlds problems?

I'm not trying to turn anything into a shitshow - if anything, making ignorant comments is doing so much more effectively.
Being a leader in renewable energy can help - if we build an economy that actually functions on a low carbon emission level, we can export our knowledge and technology. It just takes a very large investment which the conservatives are not willing to do.
Calling it a global problem doesn't escape the fact that our economy, particularly the part you work in (construction in the oil fields) is completely unsustainable and will cause a much larger economic crisis when oil rises back to record levels and we have no real way to deal with it. Like it or not, the world will eventually have to be carbon neutral if only for the lack of fossil fuels.
It takes people making real strides - I could have just as easily gone to the oil fields and make 30k plus more than I'm currently making and still can at pretty much any time. I just couldn't fucking sleep at night if I did.

The Liberals have a shitty leader.
The Liberals have governed over Canada creating eras of better times and better outlook for Canada when time were good. The country's best Prime Ministers were basically all Liberals.
The NDP is against capitalism
That's odd because it's not true. Saskatchewan and Manitoba both over the years have had very successful NDP governments and they were not anti-capitalism. They had a creative and just mix of free markets and socialistic ideals. In fact B.C. under Mike Harcourt had in the early 90's one of the most successful eras in recent B.C. history in that of growth of economy and balance of open markets with social policy. When the rest of Canada went onto recession from 1990-1993 B.C. still had a vibrant economy under NDP Premier Harcourt.
The Green party cant run a country.
Popular in Europe but forever will be stillborn in Canada. We like our three major parties as they bring understanding and balance for most Canadians. The problem with the Conservatives as a part of the existing big three parties is that they no longer are Progressive Conservatives and with a jerk ideologue like Harper prove today to be U.S. Republican-light and just political hacks and thugs with no real vision for Canada in the 21st century.
It seemed like a no brainer to me.

Sorry, I didn't realize building a high school for a growing city was "unsustainable construction in the oil fields". Nor do I have any interest in building the industrial sector that develops the oil fields.

The early 90's were very successful for B.C. especially in comparison with the the rest of the country. Ralph Klien (drunkard) for one was shipping his homeless via one way bus tickets from Alberta to B.C. at the time as he was messing things up in Alberta. The recession hit all of Canada except B.C. at the time which was was growing pretty well economically. Harcourt was one of the best Premiers B.C. ever had.
