What a Fantastic Race
Singapore is Monaco for this century's F1 cars. That race was awesome and Alonso proved he's still at the top of the pack. Ferrari continue their bizarre loserly antics while Vettel proved last race was no fluke.
But the biggest star had to be the city itself. The beautiful spectacle meant noone really cared about burst water mains, an inability to get wreckage off the track and disintegrating ripple strips.

That was a really cool & unique track layout. I feel sorry for the cars' brakes...
Massa got screwed by his pit crew (he got the green light to go), and the same thing almost happened to DC but he was able to stop before ripping the fuel hose off. And the fact Massa's motor didn't fail while sitting on pit row for 30-40 seconds was interesting...
I thought after the last safety car yellow, it was going to be a tight last few laps wiping out Alonso's 18 second lead, but Alonso just embarrassed everyone and walked away anyway.

I'll chalk it up to karma being the fickle bitch that she is.

Re: What a Fantastic Race
What's special was the Massa's fuel rig incident happened at Singapore days after FIA officially screwed Hamilton out of getting his rightful points back from Spa. It's funny that it did not happen at Monza and happened the first race after the B.S. court decision. There are racing gods and they are maybe finally getting tired of the years of the FIA/ Ferrari love fest.

Re: What a Fantastic Race
good race but ALOT needs to be improved for next year. They need more gates/cranes to clear wreckage and those stupid kerbs should have been taken down after they first put the force india in the wall on friday.
alonso made the most of his luck and got a great win, but for me the real star was vettel. the mclarens and ferraris should be in the top 4 every time, but that toro rosso is a backmarker but hes consistently putting it in the top 8.
i think this championship is abit of a let down. i say hamilton isnt really world championship material yet, but then neither are massa and especially kimi this season. rewind the clock back to 2004 or 2006 and hamilton wouldnt have stood a chance against alonso and schumacher, and neither would anyone else out there today.
ps Les....there are a set of rules. hamilton broke them.....very clearly. fair enough the stewards fucked up the application of the penalty but he still deserved a penalty.

It's a let down when your team isn't winning. OK.

actually its a let down when they are. massa just isnt quite a world champion. kimi is the fastest man out there but its no use being the fastest if you only do it for a couple of laps per race
schumacher retired, alonso is in a shit car and kimi cant settle down. there's a void noone has yet managed to fill

No Hamilton did not break ay rules. Whiting spoke TWICE said Hamilton was within rules after Whitmarsh asked Whiting. FIA just wanted to keep Massa in the game by giving him free points for a win he had no business winning at Spa. Sorry Penz but this not new the FIA/Ferrari love fest. They then come up with some concoction having a retaking pass from cut chicane or corner (Hamilton was forced off at Spa too) to a require at least one corner. There was no rule as such. but in trying to save face FIA pulls regs out of its ass. Th racing gods gave their verdict Sunday as Massa drove down pit lane with a refueling hose dangling from his car

Charlie Whiting has zero authority when it comes the rules though and McLaren knew that when he stated his OPINION. If what Hamilton did was fine why has every other driver come out and said he should have waited? Hamilton is not particularly well liked in the paddock.
its cute how everyone forgets the FIA didnt just bend the rules, they completely changed them in order to slow schumacher down. how time fades memories when your trying to formulate an argument.

Re: What a Fantastic Race
B.S. Simon Whitmarsh asked Whiting TWICE, why would he if Whiting had no say?.
FIA and Ferrari esp. under Schumie years have been in bed together.
You have no idea of who and how much Hamilton may or may not be liked it is also irrelevant to the racing and rules.

so what if he asked him a thousand times, he still has no authority when it comes to the rules during a race :jay:
and how the fuck do you know i have no idea?

Re: What a Fantastic Race
You have no idea because you are nothing but a fan, you do not work for FIA nor any F1 team and you do not know any of the drivers.
The rules were observed by Hamilton at Spa. FIA wanted a closing of the gap for Massa and their love child Ferrari. It was all political and the racing gods sent FIA their verdict at Singapore when we saw Massa drive down pit lane with refueling hose dangling from his car.

Re: What a Fantastic Race
racing gods most people use that as a figure of speech you seem to actually believe in them
have a quick think where the majority of F1 teams are based before you go making your assumptions

Re: What a Fantastic Race
I'm using a figurative term (using the racing gods) to describe the fact that the points FIA gave via politics to Massa were all lost with the boneheaded move by Ferrari in Singapore and BTW who the fuck cares where the team are generally based. You are not employed by any of teams and are no more informed than most fans would be. Show us your team or FIA credentials if you want to try to paint some insider info ok?

Re: What a Fantastic Race
Kimi has been disappointing this year, but at the same time it's great to see drivers such as Vettel and Alonso in with a chance in lesser vehicles.
For what it's worth, it seems like Hamilton is the only Ferrari/McLaren driver capable of recovering from a race setback. Massa tends to lose the plot completely and Kimi can do well but inevitably puts himself into a wall near the end.

The channel that shows the F1 here has been showing it live lately on their HD channel (although it's not actually in HD), the same one that shows the live NFL now.
