The new Google Maps and Detroit

It's pretty cool. Easier to navigate, and they have this feature that lets you look at street view from different points in time since 2007. It really comes in handy seeing all the changes that have happened in shithole Detroit in the past several years.

It's amazing. You can basically just pick a random street and see how it has transformed to a dilapidated pile of shit. Seems like hardly any of it has gotten better or stayed the same. It is really sad what that city has become.

Michigan Central Station (abandoned since 1988) actually got flowers and a flag.

Yeah I think they put it up for sale a couple times. So far nobody's done anything with it.

no you can't, thats a fable. UAW is only one of many issues that caused the downfall of detroit. Likely a minor issue.

Yeah, I'd like to think "the big three making shitty inefficient cars via shitty inefficient internal processes for decades" and "always being woefully unprepared for and/or unwilling to respond to shifts in what the market wanted" had a bit more influence in what caused Detroit's downfall.

I thought part of the reason they started making the shitty cars was because of being forced to still pay high wages and pensions to the factory workers which was no longer feasible because of foreign competition increasing.
