What did Swerve buy?
New (1994) to me (sort of) car
We'll no one was of any help with the E34 TT 535i I was considering. That car was located about 2,000km away, making it difficult to gauge condition etc.
Although I ended up deciding that car might not be the most sensible purchase, the idea of buying a car that someone else had shelled out for serious modifications sounded pretty good.
I have now bought a car that has had some decent mods. It is on a train right now, as it happened to be on the other side of the country - 3,500km away in Perth.
Pics to come when I take delivery. Prepare to be underwhelmed with the originality of the choice...

Oh and I like that you blamed us for your decision in not getting the BMW.

Re: New (1994) to me (sort of) car
you suck.
guessing, because of the GF bit, and the "getting rid of all the cars" bit, your missus is pregnant, and you need some more space, so falcon? oh wait, with the child on the way, you'll need something sensible and reliable, so no high mileage coons.... so yeah, light gold camry automatic.

My nephew is 21 and has the V6 MR2 now. The red car is way better overall...

Re: New (1994) to me (sort of) car
Disappointing. More MR2's
I'm more intrigued about that old BMW that is apparently being replaced and how that fit into the whole crazy MR2 man thing.

Re: New (1994) to me (sort of) car
My older brother has the 328i. It's a very nice all-round car, but no MR2.
The new one is insanely loud and catless - apparently anything goes in the West. But Melbourne is a different story and living in an apartment, if the cops don't get me my neighbours will!
Took the red one up to Yarra Valley today. First time I'd driven it properly since getting the blue one and it feels very quiet and refined in comparison. It is a great all-rounder and I will be sad to see it go.
For sale! 20 year old Toyota, 136,000km, slightly unoriginal condition.

I reckon it's a great interior for the early 90s.

By comparison, none of this stuff looks remotely legal...
Not to mention the straight-through exhaust.

Looks like a fun little car. I always like driving MR2s in racing games.

Re: New (1994) to me (sort of) car
Thanks. The exhaust fell off yesterday.
There is a mountain (hill really) drive that ends at the top at a toboggan park. So perfect for summer when you don't have to worry about traffic (apart from cars and motorbikes with the same intentions). I went up there with 3 friends, one in a Focus ST, one in a Ralliart and one on a bike (R6).
The MR2 was really in its element, and I had even more fun on my own coming back down and even overtaking on the country road.
But when I got back into the suburbs the exhaust hanger weld broke. Because of the straight-through single exit design, it wasn't connected to the mid-pipe hanger either, so was swaying around erratically. I had to park in a side street, call a friend to take me to the red car (parked undercover at another friend's house), go home and get my tools, then head back out and disconnect the muffler...
Funnily enough I didn't think to take pics, apart from the unhelpful front angle.
Luckily, I have another exhaust just missing the B-pipe, that I needed to put on to quieten the car and add a cat. My mechanic warned me the exhaust was trouble when I took it in before Christmas.

Holy. Shit. I clicked on that expecting the same, lame, Ferrari 355 conversion that you see with so many MR2s. Not….that.

Re: New (1994) to me (sort of) car
That thing has been for sale at least a year - pretty sure I posted it off another classifieds site. Impossibly stupid...
Anyway, new muffler on and the car is almost legal from a noise perspective.
