Tailhappy gets new cars as often as Wally. They're just older, so we don't take notice.

Re: New boring car for me.... almost
Just bored with it, and the gas mileage isn't the greatest.
I didn't think anyone would want to trade even up, but I was bored last Saturday at work and threw up a CL ad.

Re: New boring car for me.... almost
I was expecting 20ish. It gets 18-19. Its not bad, but that combined with being bored with it and wanting something else/different....
I honestly didn't think anyone would respond to the ad.
Same thing happened with the Legacy. I got bored, threw it on craigslist, and some guy gave me more than I thought it was worth so I bought the truck.

Honestly, a V6 with a with a stick shift is pretty sweet. Not a bad car in all honesty.

My gf's dad's got one of those, but in auto. Thing has like 350,000 km on it and feels tighter than my stupid f'ing Subaru with 38,000 miles.

Re: New boring car for me.... almost
I do. I really do.
I love what it could be - high ground clearence awd wagon, truly the absolutely ideal car for me.
I hate what it is - oil burning, rattly and squeaky, bad on gas, expensive to maintain, and with lots of minor terrible design quirks
Ugh. Don't know what I'm gonna do - keep or sell. Probably keep and drive forever while dumping more and more money into it. Uuuugh.

Yeah man. I love the concept of the subaru. AWD, manual transmission, wagon. But every time I sat in an Impreza I knew I couldn't do it for long term. The seats were uncomfortable, the plastics cheap. The flat four is great, but you're right, thirsty, and tempermental. My parents had one for about 5 years before they got rid of it. Burned oil, huge costs for regular maintenance, just a headache of a car.
that's one thing about my old Civic - had that car for almost 4 years, and, other than regular maintenance (which was really inexpensive), it never cost me a cent. It got great mileage, and was decently entertaining to drive.
I don't regret selling it, but I was a little shocked when I got back my oil change bill from my GTI - more than I anticipated spending, that's for sure.

Re: New boring car for me.... almost
I haven't had any issues with my Subaru yet, I think it's got about 37k miles. But, there are a bunch of little things about it that piss me off... like, why the fuck did they do that type of thing.
Only thing that I've had to do was one of the end link rubber bushings got stripped, and it was going to be such a pita to take off and replace, I just took a hacksaw and cut the fucker in half. Who needs em anyway...

Man, my Subaru, for as cobbled together as it was, never had any squeaks or rattles. Fuck, neither of them did.
But that was back in the 90's, when every Japanese car ruled, because Amercians sucked so bad.
My truck rattles squeaks and shudders so much, I keep the radio at 15+ just to keep my sanity.

Re: New boring car for me.... almost
Yeah, I really don't know where Subarus got this almost legendary reputation for reliability among people who don't know better...
Anyway, I overall do like the car, so I'll probably keep it a while... whatevs.

So its mine now.
Oh, and there's no squeaks or rattles in the interior. Bonus.

Re: New boring car for me.... almost
I've been looking for something like this..... Thanks.
I''m not gonna go nuts with it, just fix what's wrong and probably offload it in the spring for something else that catches my eye.
It SHOULD get a timing belt soon, but it NEEDS to get the steering rack replaced. Its pissing fluid pretty bad.
Re: New boring car for me.... almost
That is actually a pretty nice car. I'd drive it. What do those make, about 200hp?

Re: New boring car for me.... almost
Unfortunately the TRD supercharger kit is discontinued, and used ones rarely pop up and when they do, they go for about $2,000 complete.
With the s/c they make 240.

Re: New boring car for me.... almost
It's actually really sad they don't sell this engine/trans combination in a sport package on new ones. I would definitely look at a new Camry then.
