Corvette
Why don't Chevrolet base the top of the line Corvette on the Grandam racer? There's space at the top of the GM tree for a low volume exotic.

Re: Corvette
Probably because of cost. The already have one car that breaks the $100k mark. I don't know if Chevy wants to build a $300k supercar.

Re: Corvette
No one would buy it because its a Chevy. And would probably share a shift knob or something with the Cruze and people would be all bitchy.
No, if GM were to build a supercar, it'd be marketed as a Cadillac.

Re: Corvette
...but they won't because they won't build any car that's faster than the Corvette.

Re: Corvette
Then they're stupid.
Sales of an uber fast $300,000 Caddy will not take away sales from Vettes. If GM still thinks that, they are RETARDEDED.

Re: Corvette
GM unfortunately listens to the bean counters too much. They're the ones that kind of fucked them all up in the first place.

Re: Corvette
It's just sort of the unwritten commandment in the Book of GM. outdated and ridiculous nowadays yes, but back in say, 1958 when the Corvette was one of the fastest cars in the world, it made sense.
however, it's just one tradition that GM stubbornly and stupidly won't let go of. And even though the GNX/Turbo T/A were both technically faster, they were "mistakes"
That's the reason the Cien never got produced, because of that rule. never mind that this car would have firmly put them into the high end of sports/supercar makers, and would have shown just how technologically advanced GM really is, and that they can be a force to be reckoned with in the global market. I mean this thing was supposedly as fast as a Koenigsegg. There's no real, reasonable, rational explanation as to why they couldn't have made it.
except for the Corvette rule. which in today's world is neither reasonable or rational.
unless they made the Corvette into a mid-engined V12 screamer with 700+ hp and a pricetag as much as a house.
but they won't.

Re: Corvette
My idea nicely dodges that hornet's nest. But it was just a half-hearted thought out of nowhere while watching the GrandAms at Laguna Seca. The Vette has pedigree but perhaps isn't a standout like the Ford GT. It would need to be the first of several generations rather than a one-off special.
