Bin Laden is dead

As this badly-spelled Fox News headline says...holy shit!

Supposedly its all been confirmed by DNA and crap. I know that's what the American people want to here, but there are other people in command of the Taliban. It's not going to stop because he's dead.

Yeah, as long as there are readily-available sources of ammonium nitrate, fertilizer, and rental trucks, there will always be remorseless nutjobs willing to murder thousands to push their ideology or to satiate the crazy voices in their minds, but this does bring some sense of justice to what happened on September 11th.

It will change a great deal in Afghanistan/Pakistan, and around the world. It will be very interesting to see how things change over the next few months.

Still, just all around good news.

The idea of dealing with to even fighting the idealisms that leads to terrorism is not one that will be won by guns and bombs but buy open, healthy debate and the de-indoctrination of those who are so weak of mind that they can be so easily lead by people of even the most nefarious of values.

its amusing so many of the american public believe this without question, and im usually not one for conspiracy theories. after so many thousands of lives lost, so many trillions of dollars spent and so many years fighting, they dont think it necessary to show any evidence that they killed him?!

he was probably killed years ago, or maybe he's still alive, who knows. you can be pretty sure this is just a well timed PR stunt though.

If it was a well-timed PR stunt, it would have been done in October of 2012.

Apparently more proof is going to be released soon, but so much is risked by lying and it would be so easy for this to be disproved by bin Laden making one of his patented videos, that I simply don't think the government would make this statement without it being true.

It was no PR stunt.

Think about it folks. If they did not kill or capture OBL but claimed that they killed him. OBL and Al Queda could totally destroy President Obama's and the USA's credibility by showing a newly time stamped video revealing OBL to still be alive.

What do you mean he had nothing to do with it? He made the fucking call, just like I said. When did I say Obama found Osama? No one is claiming that he’s single handedly did it, but he had to make a decision on what to do… it was on his shoulders and he manned up and made the right call.

It was a ballsy decision to send in SEALs hundreds of miles into a country - that has nuclear weapons mind you - to go in and get the job done with proof.

He could have launched a cruise missile from 100 miles away and hit the compound, sure. In theory, it would have killed Osama, but who would have known? He would have been vaporized.

Just like the pirates… it was Obama’s call to send the best in the word to put a piece of lead through their head and get it done.

Kudos to him for that.

Plan A was to bomb the place with a B2 Spirit, but Obama opted against that to try and minimize casualties. Plus like Talon said, how would you really know if you got him or not?

Absolutely - and not to mention if he'd used a cruise missile the chances of innocent casualties would have gone up exponentially. This was quick, strategic and precise.

If it had gone down badly he'd have worn that failure big time. Just like Carter did with the Iran Hostage Crisis.
