Renault Day at the Vair Shop Empty Renault Day at the Vair Shop

Post by SBF Tue Jan 19, 2010 10:05 am

Yesterday we had two of the owners Renaults in the shop. The '64 Dauphine was just in there for an oil change and the '79 LeCar needed all of its brake lines replaced. After spending 8 hours redoing the brake lines, I would like to travel back to the 70's and kick all the LeCar engineers in the balls, repeatedly.

We also had a '91 Yugo GV Plus that was getting a full brake job.

that dauphine looks awesome.

i remember the le car. there was a guy in my old neighborhood that drove a rust-colored one. what a heap of shit that thing was. renault was kind enough to brand the side of it, so you couldn't even pretend that it was something else.

it's a friend of my dads, i've known him since I was born. I help him out from time to time to put a couple extra bucks in my pockets. His specialty for a long time was corvairs, but he now also does orphan cars and weird European stuff.

It's definitely fun to work there, there is always something interesting being worked on.

I remember when I was like, 5 or 6 and saw a Le Car and asked what that writing on the side meant.
When I found out I remember thinking "That's stupid."

Even bastardizing the name to make it sound Frenchy, they fucked it up. The noun for car (voiture) is feminine. So it should be "La Car."
