I want a nice camera because of this picture.

I found this while looking at fall pics on a mountaineering board i frequent. Really makes me want a nice camera. Pic was taken last week, btw.

You can take/ make pictures like that with any camera and a tri-pod, really. Looks like an HDR image. Just Google it.

An example of one I did a few months back...

A nice, scenic one. This person knows how to manipulate HDR shots a lot better than the one you posted.

Yep. Stands for high dynamic range (as you now know, I guess). Just gives everything in the image the proper exposure so you get tons of detail and vibrant colours.

HDR is neat and all but there is something to be said for managing to get that perfectly exposed shot. Then again that is pretty much gone in the age of digital anyway.

I accepted long ago that I do it for myself at this point. It's too easy to take a crap picture and make it great at this point. 90% of the fun is just getting out there with a camera anyway.

I agree, but it's also fun if you can get something half-decent out of the shots you do take.

I used to be really happy if I got one shot I liked on a roll of film. My ratio is probably even worse now with digital, but I just take a lot more pictures.

I want to start using my dslr a lot more. I haven't even come close to unlocking its potential.
