Re: The Viper soldiers on
They need to kill it and come up with a completely new design. Who in their right mind is going to buy a Viper over a Gallardo/R8 etc. or if money is an issue a Z06? It's nearly 20 years old and is still pretty much the same car.
Pennzoil GT-R- It takes rue to make a thing go right (yeaah...RUUE!)

Re: The Viper soldiers on
I would, way more streetable than a gallardo, more exciting then an R8, Z06 is pretty common and mundane here, Viper is now comfortable enough for everyday life but crazy enough to keep it exciting.
hopefully its not a bad thing that Chrysler is keeping it, seems like a sinking ship lol

It desperately needs updating. Keep the name, keep the looks, but everything under the skin needs not just refreshing, but completely changing.

The Viper has a particular appeal.

how is it more streetable than a gallardo? just cuz it's less expensive?

It doesn't catch fire quite like the gallardo.
and Dodgey have you eve rode in a viper or drove one, they suck on the road? I have yet to ride in a gallardo, but i can't imagine the headache is any more annoying

less cop attention, doesnt need to have a full service every 5000 miles, less gawkers, ect ect
and yeah zuk i drove a 98 gts it didnt have any worse road manners than the car I drive now, just exceptionally more power I've never driven cushy cars though.
Re: The Viper soldiers on
They definitely don't handle as well as a Corvette. When I used watch the T1 race at the SCCA Club Racing events about 5 years ago, the Vipers would rape the Corvettes on the straights and as soon as a turn came, the Corvettes would rape the Vipers twice as hard. But now the Vipers handle a shit ton better and are not getting passed like they used to.

i doubt there's much less cop attention or gawkers. maintenance is definitely a downside though.
and the viper just batters you on the street. it's like riding a bike the way you can feel anything in the road. your 240 must be stiff.

Yeah, its very stiff, just the way I like it. Not happy unless my teeth are rattling.
Re: The Viper soldiers on
his 240 isn't exactly street legal in those respects.

I'm with this guy. I can see the appeal of a Viper. But I'd never own one even if I had more than enough money. I think you'd lose what people like about if you made it too sophisticated.

Good thing I have a complete lack of sophistication. I'd totally get one.

You're the most sophisticated man on this god-foresaken site.
Which, granted, is like winning the most eligable bachelor award at a star trek convention, but, nonetheless...

Jesus Christ I've been feeling like a smoke all day today - no rhyme or reason besides being back at work and not knowning the status of my security clearance yet - I feel an overwhelming urge to post more about this.

Re: The Viper soldiers on
I'd get one just to drive when I feel like having fun.
And you'd get just as much cop attention/gawkers/camera phones/etc. in a Viper as you would a Gallardo. It's a sports car, people are going to go ga-ga over it no matter who makes it. And, while Z06's are relatively comon (seing as they make about a billion of them a day), they are anything but mundane, I never tire of seeing one, even though I see them all the time.

Re: The Viper soldiers on
I have never heard of suspension regulations. for all I know you could overhall the suspension to full-racecar spec on that sucker and it'll still be street legal. It just won't be a very comfortable drive.
'specially not when those potholes sneak up on you.
