Chrysler''s shutting my dealer down
I knew it was coming. Yesterday, after reading that the closure announcements were nigh, I asked myself, "Self, do you really like the experience you get when you bring the car in for scheduled maintenance and the work they do?" And I said, "Yes, yes I do." So I said, "Well tough shit, they're getting axed tomorrow." And yea verily, it came to pass.
Re: Chrysler's shutting my dealer down
And today, I was like that's okay I can deal. I'll just go to--OH FOR CHRIST'S SAKE, THEY'RE CLOSING TOO?
Now I have to go to these shitheads. They don't even allow you to fucking embed their YouTube videos. Fuckers.

Yeah, but we don't get to see the list because they aren't in bankruptcy.

Re: Chrysler's shutting my dealer down
They were going to close our Madison C-J dealer but our owner and VP were in DC yesterday and are hashing a plan to buy a Dodge dealer that's on the list therfore making it a C-J-D store and therfore staying open.
Re: Chrysler's shutting my dealer down
dealerships closing everywhere.
good time to be a mechanic that wants to open up his own shop, since people are going to need to get their cars fixed somewhere else now.

Plus the fact that no one can AFFORD to buy a new car.
That's what we're seeing. No one can get financing so they're dumping thousands into old pieces of shit.
Which makes ME make money.

Re: Chrysler's shutting my dealer down
I read an article about how because of the bankruptcy, Chrysler doesn't have to fulfill its obligations to the Lemon Laws. Story talked about a dude who bought a Magnum wagon that was defect-riddled, ended up giving it back just before Chrysler went into C11, and now Chrysler has his car, hasn't reimbursed him yet, and it's looking like he won't get any of his money back, or if he does it will be pennies on the dollar.
Re: Chrysler's shutting my dealer down
There's a Chevrolet/Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealership just across the county line in Mount Washington that got notice from Chrysler they're shutting them down, and then the next day GM told them they're shutting the Chevrolet portion down too.
Re: Chrysler's shutting my dealer down
wow, that lemon law thing is incredible. fucking guy is going to lose all that money.
when these dealerships close, that will be another couple hundred thousand in the unemployment lines. not good.

Here's the original article I'd read on that: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-lemonlaw9-2009may09,0,3217006.story
Just today the same writer ran a story saying that people's whose reimbursement checks for issues before C11 had bounced are getting them reprocessed. However, it's still unknown what's going to happen to cases that are still pending. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-lemonlaw16-2009may16,0,3280229.story

Yeah, I was previously thinking that even if GM went into bankruptcy, I'd still consider the Camaro because they'd still be operating, just sorting out their financial woes. But if it means I could possibly end up with a lemon (which seems to happen with a lot of things I buy) and won't be able to seek protection via the Lemon Laws, then I'm not touching them with a ten-foot pole.
Re: Chrysler's shutting my dealer down
yeah, dude, i'd be terrified of the lemon thing. fffffffffuck that.

Yeah there is one dealership owner that owns 2 Chrysler dealerships that are closing and then the next day they got a letter from GM
so they basically went from having 3 dealer franchises to none

Re: Chrysler's shutting my dealer down
a bunch of these guys were on the news yesterday and friday talking about how they received a form letter from GM corporate telling them that they're done. they weren't too happy.
GM claims that the people getting shut down had really low sales volumes relative to other dealerships. they cited an example dealership that only sold 34 cars in all of last year. if i had to guess, they must have stayed profitable because of their service departments, and/or maybe used car sales or something.
