I sent an application in. :roflmao:

We'll see how long it takes to never get a response. I said I'd prefer to named Secretary of State, but if they insisted on giving me something piddly, like Energy Secretary I'd "probably" still take it.

For once I agree with Pennz.

If you see the history of some countries, you will notice that once a leader, system or idea promises way too much and gets the people's hopes very high, and they are not met, people get inmensely pissed off and end voting for exactly the opposite or doing the exact opposite thing, as some sort of punishment or revenge. Some countries like venezuela and bolivia went capitalist decades ago. They all thought they'd be the next USA. They failed. Then they voted for dictatorial, populist regimes that sunk them even deeper. Remember that "domino effect" in south america? Yep.

Not that something like that could happen in the states, but if Obama keeps building on the hype and change stuff, he will get people very pissed off, because no human being can fix all the shit bush caused in a single presidential term.

yeah, they're putting a LOT of pressure on obama. it's only because we've endured 8 years of an abject moron, though.

and i'd hate to say it though, lots of people are going to be looking for weaknesses in the first "black" president.

He's been pretty clear about the fact that turning around the Bush Admin's course will take a lot of time, a lot of effort, and a lot of pain. Change, even with all that sacrifice is still a worthy goal. I do agree, though, that a lot of people here and abroad will be improperly expecting massive, immediate change.
