The Indianapolis Star is a right-leaning paper in a traditionally Republican state that's suddenly become a battleground, so seeing this article about McCain campaign phone calls scaring people into voting for McCain isn't the best of signs.

James Davis, a 68-year-old Indianapolis man, also received one of the calls. And, he said, it's why he's now going to vote for Obama.

Davis -- who was not at the Democratic press conference but who called The Indianapolis Star about the call he received -- said he's a Republican, but was outraged by the call.

"I told them in no uncertain terms that they just persuaded me about who I was going to vote for," he said.

He said he considered the call an attempt to scare the Republican base into voting for McCain, and he didn't buy it.
